Sammy Watkins injury update

by - Assoc. Editor -

Former Clemson wide receiver Sammy Watkins had a small broken bone in his foot and consequentially had surgery in April to have a screw inserted.

Watkins wants to take his time and make sure his injury is healed 100% by the start of the regular season.

"Boot comes off tomorrow..." Watkins said via the official Bills' Twitter account. "I have to be careful and take this recovery slow. The goal is regular season."

Bills head coach Rex Ryan also seemed to convey the same rehab timeline for his star wide receiver.

"All I know is that Sammy won't miss time in the regular season," Ryan said via the Buffalo News.

He had 44 receptions for 827 yards and nine touchdowns last season. For his career, he has 125 catches for 2,029 yards and fifteen scores
