4-star DE has 'amazing' visit

Four-star 2021 defensive end Brayden Wood (Boulder, Co.) was back in Clemson on Monday.

"Had a great visit to Clemson," Wood posted on Twitter. "Thank you @CoachToddBates @CoachVenables for a amazing day."

Wood visited last fall for the NC State game and was also a Dabo Swinney Camp attendee in June.

He is rated as high as the No. 3 defensive end in the nation and the No. 1 player in Colorado.

2021 top-rated cornerback Tony Grimes (Virginia Beach, Va.) released his latest top schools list and Clemson is in the mix.

Grimes announced he will focus on this group of 15 teams over his final two seasons of high school: Clemson, Alabama, Auburn, Maryland, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Tennessee, TCU, Texas A&M, UNC, Virginia and Virginia Tech.

Grimes was a Maxpreps sophomore All-American out of Princess Anne.

Four-star 2020 Hollywood, Florida cornerback Henry Gray released his top eight schools on Saturday.

Gray named Clemson as his leader after an Elite Junior Day visit in January.

“Clemson is my top school right now. They are the leaders,” Gray said. “I feel like the coaches there can turn me into the best player I can be.”

Gray's list Saturday also included Ohio State, Auburn, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, Penn State and Kentucky.

Gray earned junior Maxpreps All-American honors.

Four-star Carrollton, Texas safety Darius Snow narrowed his top schools to 13 teams and Clemson was not in that group. Clemson offered Snow while on a visit to camp last June.

Snow has Alabama, LSU, Florida State, instate schools Texas, SMU, Texas A&M, Baylor and TCU, as well as Notre Dame among more still on his radar.

A number of Tigers earned first-team All-State honors for Florida this week.

Clemson wide receiver signee Frank Ladson and defensive tackle signee Tyler Davis were tabbed All-State first-team in Florida for Class 8A.

Ladson posted 50 receptions for 1,133 yards and 13 touchdowns, setting a school record for receiving yards. He averaged 22.9 yards reception over the last two seasons.

Davis tallied 14 tackles for loss and six sacks as a senior at Wekiva (Fla.).

Another Class 8A standout who has Clemson on top of his list joined Ladson in 2020 running back Jaylan Knighton. He rushed for over 2,000 yards with 28 touchdowns last season.

Four-star offensive lineman signee Will Putnam earned first-team honors for Class 7A.

In Class 6A, Chez Mellusi picked up first-team honors after rushing for 1,819 yards with 21 touchdowns.
