Lee and FSU's Mike Martin say Tigers deserve a national seed

Saturday’s ACC Baseball Championship semifinal against Florida State didn’t go the Tigers’ way, but head coach Monte Lee knows there is plenty more to play for as the postseason continues.

Monte Lee was still visibly upset when he entered the postgame interview area following Clemson’s 5-4 loss to Florida St. in the semifinals of the ACC Tournament Saturday. Lee was gracious with his comments toward the Seminoles, but still on edge after being ejected in the eighth inning by home plate umpire David Savage.

Wasted opportunities, an ejection and a critical stolen base in the ninth cost second-seeded Clemson Saturday night. The Tigers left eight runners on base and Florida St. scored the go-ahead run in the ninth in defeating Clemson 5-4 at Durham Bulls Athletic Park. (Photo by David Grooms)

Monte Lee is all about having fun. Just don’t put bubblegum on his cap or you’ll get kicked. Lee’s in-game television interviews this season have been punctuated by the pranks of his players. Lee has been the target of peanuts and sunflower seeds, he’s had players loom over his shoulder during interviews and he’s had bubblegum on his cap.
