Clemson gets less practice time than Alabama |
#1 Clemson will have a slight disadvantage with less practice time for their upcoming matchup against #2 Alabama in the National Championship in Glendale, AZ on Jan. 11.
ESPN has reported that the (14-0) Tigers will have to adhere to the 20-hour weekly NCAA rule while Alabama can have unlimited practices and meetings leading up to the title game. "This is because Alabama's spring semester starts Jan. 13 -- two days after the CFB Playoff title game on Jan. 11 (ESPN, 8:30 p.m. ET) -- while Clemson's spring semester begins on Wednesday," ESPN said. Clemson can have unlimited practices, meetings, weightlifting, and required film sessions on Monday and Tuesday but the restrictions will start on Wednesday. "The Tigers are not restricted by the length of any practices/team meetings until Tuesday, but are limited to a maximum of four hours a day beginning Wednesday, according to NCAA rules," ESPN said. Oregon had less practice time than Ohio State last season before their title matchup and the Ducks lost 42-20.
