WATCH: Trevor Lawrence on the playoff rankings

by -

Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence was asked after Clemson's 55-10 destruction of NC State if the team used the College Football Playoff Rankings as motivation for this week.

"I think something like that's hard to just avoid it and not see it and not hear any of that but I mean we don't really focus on it, especially now," Lawrence said. "After the 12th week and ACC Championship that'll be important for sure then but right now it's just about us every week focussing and having a 1-0 mindset. If we don't win next week and the week after that, and the week after that it doesn't really matter about the playoff if we lose a game. I think it's just taking every week the same way and not looking too far ahead."

Lawrence set a Clemson mark with five straight games with at least three touchdown passes but gave the credit to his teammates.

"It's awesome. It's just a testament to all the other guys on the team," Lawrence said. "If it wasn't for the O-line obviously and those receivers making plays I wouldn't have that recognition. So it's just a testament to the whole team really but definitely really honored and proud to have that kind accomplishment."

Lawrence completed 20-of-27 passes for 276 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions. He also rushed eight times for a career-high 59 yards with a rushing touchdown.
