Clemson went to Williamsport, Maryland to meet a key need for 2019 with the interior defensive line, signing Tayquon Johnson.

More on Johnson…

Tayquon Johnson- 4-star DT - Williamsport, Md.

Committed since: 5/14/18.

Listed size: 6-2 295.

Recruiter: Todd Bates.

Brings to Clemson: Johnson has proved to be hard to handle for opposing offensive lines, effectively getting off blocks and making noise in the backfield. The under-the-radar prospect’s recruitment picked up momentum this spring with a visit to Clemson, offers from Alabama and Penn State and a commitment to the Tigers after a second visit. He was named defensive player of the year for his region, in addition to first-team honors as an offensive lineman, this fall.

Depth chart fit: Outside of some 5-star signees, Clemson has made a habit of redshirting interior linemen and Johnson could fit that bill. With upwards of three D-linemen moving on in the interior, Johnson will have his chance to impress in at least four games for a redshirt, however.
