Clemson right-handed pitcher signee Sam Keating from Fort Myers, FL (Canterbury School) was selected (#108 overall) in the fourth round to the San Diego Padres.

Keating has agreed to a contract in principal with the Padres. However, no contract specifics have been made public but his slot value at the 108th overall pick was $497,000.

"The Padres made me an offer that will change my life for the better," Keating said via News-press.com. "It's a great day for my family. It took something really important for me to forgo Clemson. I can't thank the Clemson coaching staff enough for everything. This is the best decision for me."

In 2016, the Florida 3A Player of the Year had an impressive 11-1 record with a 1.06 ERA and 93 strikeouts. Keating was also named 2017 Rawlings-Perfect Game Honorable Mention All-American.
