WATCH: Swinney says next National Championship appearance "won't be much longer"

Dabo Swinney looked back but also made a forecast for his Clemson program while addressing the crowd at halftime of the Clemson-Notre Dame basketball game.

"Obviously we didn’t finish this year quite like we wanted to," Swinney said of the Sugar Bowl loss to Alabama, "but let me tell you, I’m so proud of this team from last year...We’ve had a couple of these guys stick around for another (Swinney motions to Christian Wilkins and crowd applauds). I think it’s great in this day in age and you have a guy like Christian Wilkins, who graduated from Clemson in 2.5 years and who’s sticking around to get a graduate degree and continuing his experience at Clemson. That says a lot about this great person we all love.

"What an awesome, awesome nine years it’s been here as head coach…It’s been an unbelievable journey. We’ve had some failure. We’ve had some success. We’ll have some more failure and we’ll have some more success. But it’s been one year since we played in the national championship - and it won’t be much longer."

Clemson is coming off of three-straight College Football Playoff appearances, including two national title game appearances and claiming the school's second national championship in January 2017.

The Tigers held Junior Day with some of the nation's top 2019 prospects on hand and also played host to official visits from 2018 prospects Matthew Hill and Leon O'Neal.
