by - Assoc. Editor -

Former Ben Lippen quarterback Patrick McClure from Columbia, S.C. has committed to Clemson as a preferred walk-on.

"Ever since I was a kid, it's been a dream of mine to put on a Clemson jersey and run down the hill... Now this fall, it will become a reality," McClure posted on his Twitter account.

"God is so Good. After talking to Coach Swinney and Dooley today, I am excited to announce that I'm officially apart of the Clemson Football team! I will begin practice at the start of the school year. This has been the biggest dream of mine since I was a kid and I am blessed to see it unfold. Thank you to all the family and friends who supported me throughout this past year. So blessed to have this opportunity! I am ALLIN! Go Tigers!"

The 6-foot-2 signal-caller was a 2-star prospect out of high school and signed with Jacksonville University.

In 2016 on Ben Lippen's 3A title team, he passed for 1,311 yards and 18 touchdowns.
