Etienne ranked as one of NFL.com's Top RBs to watch |
One of the top and memorable Clemson highlights last season was watching freshman running back
Travis Etienne sprint down the sideline for a eye-dropping 81-yard score against Louisville.
More exciting plays should be headed our way with Etienne in his sophomore campaign. NFL.com released their Top 12 running backs to watch in college football in 2018 and Etienne was ranked No. 9 overall. "When it comes to the recent crop of Clemson running backs, they have a tendency to run with good urgency and a willingness to give as much as they get on contact," NFL.com said. "Etienne is no different. He possesses an impressive ability to shake off tacklers and create yardage after contact, but it's also worth noting that he has the breakaway speed to take it the distance once he can get to daylight. He does a good job of staying true to the rush track. With a low pad level and aggressive approach, he's usually falling forward after contact. Evaluators might want to see him add a few more pounds to his frame as he gets older, but there is time to do that." He rushed 107 times for 766 yards and 13 touchdowns last season. The Top 12 rankings for the top running backs were D'Andre Swift, J.K. Dobbins, Jonathan Taylor, Rodney Anderson, Bryce Love, Zack Moss, Cam Akers, Damien Harris, Travis Etienne, A.J. Dillon, Justice Hill, and Devin Singletary.
