WATCH: Controversial non-home run call during Clemson-UGA game |
It was a tough and long Tuesday night in Athens for the Clemson baseball team, who lost to Georgia 4-3 after battling for 15 innings.
During the contest, Clemson freshman infielder Jarren Purify appeared to hit a home run to left field, but it was called a foul ball by the umpire. The play was reviewed, and the foul call was upheld. Fans on social media, not just Tiger fans, were surprised by the controversial call, which certainly affected the closely played contest. I wasn't there in person covering the game, so I am not 100 percent sure if it was a home run or a foul ball, but the angle of the following video sure makes it look like a homer. Check out the video below and see what you think. This was ruled a foul ball in the Clemson Georgia game. What do we think? pic.twitter.com/uTmYQCF5TB This ball called foul on what should have been a Clemson home run. Game now in extra innings tied at 3. So this incorrect call the difference in the game. https://t.co/0RKs0PBbc1 Another tough break for Clemson: The homerun that didn’t count and resulted in this poor Clemson fan having to stay 15 innings broke their windshield. Brutal night for this person pic.twitter.com/9eRniPHokh
