Baseball America's early Clemson NCAAs projections |
We're not quite to the halfway mark of the 2019 season but that didn't stop Baseball America
from an early outlook on the NCAA Tournament picture.
They send Monte Lee's Tigers (19-6) to an East Carolina regional as a 2-seed currently. ACC hosts include NC State, as a No. 5 national seed, North Carolina (13) and Louisville (14). UCLA (18-4; No. 1 RPI) is given the nod for the No. 1 national seed. Clemson ranks fifth in the ACC in RPI (27), behind NC State (12), Louisville (16), UNC (17) and Georgia Tech (26). The Tigers' early NCAAs resume is marked by a 4-0 record versus Quadrant 1 teams (top-50 RPI: UNC, Coastal Carolina) and an 11-6 record versus top-100 RPI teams overall. Clemson's slate is filled with top-50 RPI opponents down the stretch, starting with a trip to Virginia Tech this weekend (36), then Georgia (23), Louisville (16), Georgia again (road), Georgia Tech (26; road) and NC State (12; road).
