Zac Brooks

Saw him up close at Duke last year. I knew he'd be a solid this year. I'm predicting Zac to be our starter at RB. He's doing well in practice. In fact, he's standing out. Thoughts?

Re: Zac Brooks- 2nd in "committee" behind Rod!

I hope Rod will have a spectacular sr. year and get drafted, however in Spring Game and this scrimmage ZB was the best runner so who knows? The other day some were relegating him to 3rd or 4th team behind Dye, Rod and ? I don't think so! DREAMING OF CALIFORNIA ALL IN ALL THE WAY TO PASADENA!

Why don't we run four backs. Keep 'em fresh and decrease the chances of injury.

2nd in "committee" behind Rod!
Aug 10, 2013, 3:23 PM

That is what a "committee" is! It could be a committee of 3 or 4 or 5 but mostly 2 - Dabo said he would go with a committee and whoever the hottest runner is at the time. Toward the end of the year last year and in the LSU win, Rod was the superior runner. I see them using 217 lb Dye as a short yardage runner at first quickly moving himself up the chart. We have been needing a big good running back like Dye for years. I predict he becomes a star if he can avoid injuries. But this year I am pulling for Rod and Zac to be the top two with Zac next year! Then it will be Dye's time to be on top! WHATEVER IT IS A GREAT SITUATION, AND I AM CONFIDENT IN DABO'S HANDLING UNLIKE THE MERRIWEATHER SITUATION!

Still say that allowed this current SCjr resurgence.

nobody said he was awful. Don't put words in people's mouths. Many, myself included, don't see him as a D1 starting RB at this point. He's small, he runs tentatively, and he fumbles. Doesn't appear ready for the workload.

true soph, a tireless worker from the coaches and the light appears to be coming on. he was hand picked by morris and i'll take vic beasley's word or how 'tentative' he doesn't run.

i think mcD starts, but i'm not going to sell anyone short because a hell of a football player had a good scrimmage and is impressing to date.
the op's an idiot.

I think at least 3-4 RBs will see considerable PT this year.

I think Brooks will be one of those guys. I still think McDowell gets the "start" and gets the most carries initially, but as the season progresses we will go with whoever steps up or has the hot hand.

I kind of expected to see a bit more I guess. During the paw drills I had concerned about his vision. I'm sure he'll be a great back. Just thought he'd be a bit more productive. Shouldn't expect too much from a true freshman though.

I think he could become a solid player, very likable kid.
But if I've learned anything over the years, don't listen to any "reviews" coming out of August camp. Last year, Cortez was going to start at corner...
