Neff made it very clear what the goals were this year. We had to make the NCAA Tourney. Then we don't and Neff decides he "sees it as an NCAA Tourney team."
We just finished our season losing to Morehead State at home. We are NOT an NCAA Tourney team. We did not meet the standard that Neff set. Yet Brown-L is still retained? Say what you mean and mean what you say. I have zero respect for someone that says one thing and does another. Especially if this is the person running Clemson's athletic department.

if you identify as an Tournament Team.
To do otherwise if hateful and lacks inclusivity.
We should protest, then cry.
Oh wait...we already did that...then lost to the juggernaut that is Morehead State.

Well, since both Neff and Brad “viewed” us or considered us a tournament team, in their minds I guess we were. Both appeared like clowns when they whined about not making the big dance then getting bounced out of the NIT in the first game at home.
Since you posted on the football board; lies, smoke and mirrors and deception was common place last year when Streeter and gang swore Cade wasn’t ready and DJ was our best option at QB.
BB is over, close the book .. Spring game is just ahead and football is coming with a real QB and OC. A great season “coming up”.

I agree with this totally.
I was very big on Neff, very excited about him and where he might take us.
But after this Brownell debacle, I have to admit I am quite concerned.
He acted on emotion, pissed we didn't get in. That's not how to make a decision.

If you go back and read what he really said, it was basically two things. He said the goal was making NCAATs and he tasked Brad with creating a plan to get us there. What he didn't do was state a consequence if that didn't happen this year. He conveniently gave himself that out. And even in the statement this week, he hedged again. He repeated the same goal but then went further and said something to the effect that maybe in the FUTURE this would become an actionable expectation.
"And quite frankly, I hope that evolves into a minimum type expectation for Clemson basketball."
He purposely left himself a ton of wiggle room in both statements.

I genuinely believe the big buyout and the new facilities factored heavily into this decision. Unless we make the tournament the next couple of years and win more than one game I think Brownell is out in two years three tops. There’s also the perception issue. We’re not gonna be this good next year, not that I thought we were good this year. But we won’t have this good of a record next year. People aren’t looking at the big picture.

The buyout and pending new facilities were probably major factors in keeping him a little longer.

During his review of the previous season, Neff told Brad to, "plan on making the NCAA tournament". He didn't tell Brad to create a plan. He told him to be there as part of his tasks for this most recent review.
If my boss tells me to plan to complete 25 projects in 2023, then he is telling me to complete 25 projects. No wiggle room. No try to do it. Plan on doing it.
Of course Neff didn't say publicly, "or you'll be fired".
There is not an ounce of wiggle room in that directive and certainly not tons of wiggle room. You're making that up inside your head.

My understanding is CBB has three years left on his contract and did not receive an extension this year. If my understanding is correct, the writing is on the wall. Brad should go hire the best assistants that he can find and make Neff pay for them. I have no problem with Brad being a CEO type coach if necessary. I honestly feel that if the team is not drastically improved next season, CBB is gone. I like Brad and have always wanted him to succeed. The problem is Clemson football and basketball were both painful to watch this year because you never knew which team would show up. Football has made a change. Now is basketball’s turn.

connection to politics to better help generate emotional buy in and followers based on one side versus the other. It's been an incredibly effective means to consume much more of the public's time than would otherwise be warranted for matters that have little impact on your actual daily life.
News is the cheapest programming there is. You don't have to purchase the rights to cover politicians, or pay a creative ensemble for an hour of programming.
News on its own is just facts presented within context to understand better what's happening, how it came about, and who it is impacting. What's pawned off as news today is mostly skewed propaganda intended solely to generate more time spent with the medium. It's the single most cost effective area to fill precious programming time with.
Go Tigers.

In his, "plan to make the NCAA Tournament" directive.
I don't see any wiggle room in that statement, but there's at least poster here who insists there was, and that's why Brad is back. Wiggle room. LoL.
