When was the last time Clemson beat a ranked, out of conference, team on their field?
UGA in the 1980's?

But grammatically speaking, it was unclear as to whether "their" was descriptive of the other team or Clemson. After re-reading, I understood the gist of what he was really getting at.

Game reveals that Auburn has not won an out of conference, road game, vs a ranked opponent in 30 years.
EsecPN will have someone fired for that...

As I interpreted their field to be Clemson's.

During the Swinney era, 0-7 against teams that finished the season ranked in the top 10 and he has never beat a ranked team on the road.

To be fair about that statistic.

First, it looks ugly, and it is. NOt downplaying it (though also I'd argue most teams have similar stats against the 'elite' teams).
But to my point, it's a stat that is somewhat self fulfilling. Many of those 0-7 teams wouldn't have ended up in the top 10 had we won, so there's very little way to get into that win column.
LSO and OSU might've both ended up in the top 10 had we not beaten them, but they didn't because we did win, and thus they don't show up on the stat

Really? Mizzou and UCF both finished in the top 10 last year despite losing Home games to a certain team that wont be mentioned. In fact, that unnamed team beat 4 teams that finished in the Top 25 last year.

Alright, lets break down the games
Sep 18, 2014, 11:10 PM
|
|
Using AP poll
2013: LOSSES FSU - National Champs, but yes, they would've stayed in the top 10 USC - Finished at #4 (11-2) - Probably would've been top 10 had we won, but no 3 loss teams were top 10 WINS OSU - We won, had we lost OSU would've been top 10
2012: LOSSES FSU - Finished #10 at 12-2. Had we won they would not have been top 10 USC - Finished #8 at 11-2. Had we won they likely would not have been top 10 WINS LSU - We won, had we lost LSU would likely have been top 10 (or at least probably)
2011: LOSSES USC - Finished #9 at 11-2. Had we won they would not have been top 10
2010: LOSSES AUBURN - National Champs. Lost by 3 in OT. THey would have been ranked either way.
2009 LOSSES TCU - Finished undefeated, THey would be top 10 either way.
SO it looks like at least 2 wins that weren't counted because our win kept them from being top 10, and about 3 times the other team would've been ranked had we won.
I think, in general, my point stands about the usefulness of this statistic.

never beat a ranked team on the road? VT in 2011 and Miami in 2009. And if you count bowl games as road then add LSU and OSU to that.
