I really hope you're right. Not sure what's up with Cam. Wonder if his shoulder still bothering him or what. He hasn't been seeing the ball real well the last couple games. I understand no teams want to schedule non con top teams for series but surely some would. Softball does it.
Anyway, Taylor needs to be benched. Hopefully I'm proven wrong but we're not a good hitting team. We'll get our dingers, yay. I'd much rather see a well hit liner to any field and maybe a few will be gaps. There's nothing wrong with hitting a pitch that would be called a ball. We looked like a Monte team hitting the last 2 games. Everyone either begging for a walk or swinging out our shoes for a dinger. Trying to guess what the pitch is instead of seeing it.
Now, most probably won't agree with this post, that's fine. We've only lost 2 games, scored a lot of runs, just like softball, building stats on soft competition and average pitchers. Again, hope I'm wrong.
2nd, go back to Barlow as our Friday starter or find one somewhere. Gordon misses too many pitches. I write this knowing we're a really good team, a la softball, but like both, I'm looking, abd nit picking from the perspective on what it takes to truly win a cws or wcws.

It apalls me to see that we made 15 of 27 outs by way of striking out; then I see that Duke committed 15 of 24. Both teams had 5 players that struck out multiple times.
The game is becoming unwatchable.

Exactly right. I don’t know how many batters got one strike on them and then took strike two right down the middle only to swing on a curve or slider breaking out of the strike zone. Their pitcher was good, but we made him look a lot better.

I think it’s more we don’t have and elite ace or elite closer. Taylor is hard to bench because he hits a lot of home runs. His average will climb. Cam is in a sophomore slump. His numbers will come. He isn’t insulated by All ACC hitters like he was last year. I also feel like we’re having to play BigBall ala coach Lee. He wanted to live and die by the long ball. Championship teams have elite pitching and the ability to manufacture runs when they can’t overcome an elite pitcher. We kinda had that ability last season except the lack of all world pitching held us back. Players are here and more are coming. Backich will get everything on track.

It’s either a HR or K… very few things in between. Fortunately for the Braves, they have outstanding pitching and the Tigers are still TBD in that area.

Two remarks. It appears Duke had a good game plan concerning who they would pitch to and who they would pitch around. Secondly, the attendance was 762! Bad weather?

Actually a beautiful night. The kid pitched a good game no doubt, but like Wednesday, our AB approach was pitiful and we need a true Friday starter. It ain't Gordon.
