They return talent from a team that went 10-8 in the Big South last year. We were a 14.5 point favorite for a reason. Take a cold shower.

So you agree with the statement that Winthrop is “good competition”? Because that’s what I was responding to. I made no comment about our performance.

It's just funny that right after a solid win, you are on here assuring everybody that the team we played sucks. So on brand for you. It's impossible for you to speak positively or even neutral about a brownell coached team. It's pathetic and sad.
To answer your question i do think this was good competition for the first game of the season. Nobody is saying they are an ncaa tourney quality team, but they are not a terrible small school. It is good when you play talented smaller schools rather than smaller schools that completely suck.

Deroberts = everybody?
Did I say they “suck”?
Nobody says they’re NCAA caliber? Clemgalalways specifically says they (Winthrop) are.
So basically every point you’ve made is false.
I. fail to see why you need to force a false narrative. The team played as they should have against significantly lesser competition. Most of my criticism of Brownell over many years now is rooted in combatting the relentless misrepresentation of his tenure by certain posters on this board. I have no want to say anything bad about our team but, good or bad, tend to point out misinformation when strewn on this board.
You’re the rare Brownell advocate that isn’t hypocritical in their appraisal of our football program. Deroberts is rarely worth engaging with because he believes all of our coaches are above criticism. That hardly makes him a significant ally when defending a coach. And I do not agree with the assessment that they’re “good competition”. That’s a different sentiment than “they were a good team for us to open against.”
The de facto leader of your troop is Judge Keller. My arguments against him and his “support” of basketball went nuclear after his lies about the Clemson/UVA game where he chose to outright lie to impugn our fan base. There is no coincidence that he put me on ignore when, after numerous denials on his part, I provided the evidence of his lying. Why does a Clemson fan knowingly lie about the state of our program and fanbase? They were not subjective observations being made. He boxed himself into a corner and got completely busted. So why is your outrage so selective? You know full well that I have valid complaints about our basketball program. You yourself have gone into the last several seasons with acceptable caveats for parting ways with Brownell. I’m just more consistent than you. He has not met the standard I would like to see.

LOL NO ONE IS ABOVE CRITISM, ESPECIALLY YOU. WHAT GOOD DOES IT TO CONSTANTLY BERATE PLAYERS AND COACHES. I DO IT PLENTY. BUT THERE IS A PLACE FOR IT. YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW I FEEL ABOUT ANY COACHES. THERE IS A PM BUTTON ON THIS SITE AND TEXT CHAINS ON YOUR PHONE. BUT I GUESS IT MAKES YOU AND NCTIGS FEEL REALLY BIG DOING IT IN PUBLIC CHAT.

You have told me quite explicitly in the past that it is not our place to say negative things about our coaches and that we are to support the teams and any questions of hiring / firing should be left entirely to administration. If you’ve had a change of heart please clarify for me under what circumstances one is allowed to convey their displeasure with a coach.
And I will repeat, most of my negative criticism of Coach Brownell has been a direct reaction to demonstrably false information that is posted here about his program.

our fan base."
And he has outright lied many times OTHER than this one . . . .
I agree with Viz on this - Brownlee has VASTLY underperformed and should have been gone 3 or 4 years ago.
But I hope we don't ever lose another basketball game and we win the National Championship this year.
But we won't because we lack a leader with vision and engagement.
But I hope we do.
PLUS - we have been down this road nearly every year of BB "leadership" - we look good - we crap the bed come January / February - and we crap the bed in the 2 tournies that matter - be glad we won - (be glad we covered the spread but who really cares unless you bet on it) - but show us something when it MATTERS.

Oh, he lies constantly. I don’t believe for a second that Judge Keller is an actual Clemson fan. He’s on multiple boards - it’s insane the amount of time he’s puts into this charade. But he’s rarely corners himself. He normally throws out subjective things and talks in circles. The UVA game attendance was a rare point of fact and even when called on it with attendance numbers he continued to press the issue - claiming that didn’t account for the tremendous number of no-shows. After years of debating with me he blocked me as soon as I found and posted the ACC Network condensed broadcast of the game. Not only did it show a completely packed house, the announcers commented on the intensity of the crowd numerous times.

stupid cobbbox tagline he had forever.
Here's what I'll say about the Proverbs change - if I didn't already have faith & belief and I was looking - based on how Judge Keller® carries himself on here - I would want NO PART of what it is that he claims is his inner compass.
But maybe his claims of faith & belief are all a part of his charade - that's what I think it is - which is scary, because making fun and a mockery is a wrath-inducing proposition, in my humble opinion.

Did you catch me referring to Florida Atlantic or Charleston Southern as “good competition”. Could we try a little harder and perhaps quit enabling the trolls on this board. I have no problem with Deroberts. He doesn’t believe we should criticize coaches and he sticks by that. I don’t agree but there is no point in arguing it. He’s certainly consistent. I just thought calling Winthrop “good competition” was a bit much.
I doubt you’ll find me saying much about our football team at all. What I have done, is question the intention and/or intelligence of anyone criticizing our head coach. If you choose to defend Brownell while attacking Swinney then you have definitively placed yourself on the negative side of either inference.

Littlejohn wasn’t half full but the students showed up for the most part.
It was a very physical game in which our guys gave far more than they got. We moved the ball well, shot it decently long range but also got a lot of contested baskets inside the paint.
I think we only had 2 turnovers in the second half.
Hall, Schieffelin and Godfrey played very well.
If the team stays healthy, this could well be the best Clemson hoops team we’ve had in a long time.
I’m encouraged for sure.

Seriously, thought it was a quality win vs a decent midmajor team. Now on to a more talented mid major team in UAB.
