Triple! What a joke but probably was true a little in that every one of the 5 straight victories over the Tigers did increase their fan base each time..especially with fickle people who like to jump on the winning band wagon.
That tide will change with some great victories of our own..imo.

and pre-accept them. I got accepted to USuC (based on SAT scores most likely) without even applying. Shady bunch, those coots.

... without applying.
Granted this was back in the mid-80s, but my first reaction was "They have engineering at SCAR?", then I wondered how I got accepted without applying.

I wouldn't throw stones at this house. I got a letter from Clemson based on my SAT scores that said "You can consider this a letter of acceptance" and then said my application will be in the mail in a year. Keep in mind this was when I took the SAT as a Junior in the 90's. Obviously I filled out that application, but I wouldn't laugh at something our own school does.

My application to Clemson was a formality only. They'd already told me I'd been accepted.

Yes, Clemson does this as well.

I'm sure it is less common though. But like the others have said, I was accepted before I started my junior year of high school; I'm pretty sure all Duke Merit Scholars and Junior Scholars are on the radar once they score 1300 + on the SAT.
I guess I filled out a formal application at some point, but I don't remember it and it was just a formality.
This was in the late 90s, but I'm pretty sure they still do it.

The Real Numbers

South Carolina Acceptance Rate 60.6% http://www.acceptancerate.com/schools/university-of-south-carolina-columbia
Clemson Acceptance Rate 57.9% http://www.acceptancerate.com/schools/clemson-university
Not a huge difference there really, not a difference at all when you consider USC has to accept more to fill the spots that are open Carolina which is a much bigger student body than Clemson.
I know numerous people that were accepted to both and decided they felt more at home or liked USC better. Clemson is great school and can be a fantastic place to spend 4 years. But so is USC, the garbage posted here is just wrong and continually inaccurate.

You have to take into account the pool of candidates.

I am quite certain the acceptance rate of the SCar pool using Clemson's criteria would be significantly lower. Likewise, the Clemson applicant pool would have a much higher acceptance rate in coot town.

Then... well, ESPN of course doesn't help lessen the "most delusional fanbase in CFB" with the unfounded hype provided the mediocre coot team fanbase.
Good word. 2 ACC Championships with no shot at tue jatuonal crown had us 9ver looking the coots 2 of those 5 years.
Swinney heat Spurrier as an interim coach w the same personnel that got bowden fired (2-5 overall).
Credit ESPN with more unqualified applicants, not Clemson.
Glad it's now somewhat closer to becoming a rivalry
However, I'm calling it now. Clemson goes 8-2 in the next decade.
Mark it down. 7-3 worst case scenario.
