For some reason the other way didn't seem to work out. Like most of their ideas.

The federal government shouldn’t be funding local police. And they shouldn’t be giving local police old military equipment and weapons either. We’d have better policing if it was all done locally so each department could be held accountable. Like everything else, federal govt involvement makes things way worse.

States should hold all the standards

and the money. It’s too nuanced at the local level. This should be handled at the State level by the AG. Most states are this way now, creating standards and handing out the funds. I agree with your sentiment, but should always be kept at State level. Local can handle their taxes and millage taxes as needed. State level should hold the majority of funding and the qualification standards.

I would be fine with handling things at the state level. But definitely not the federal level. What you said makes a lot of sense.

First, the incredibly stupid Democrat cry "Defund the Police" did not ... directly ... require that federal funds be spent on (or not spent on) local police departments.
The Democrat "Defund the Police" cry was meant to encourage state and local governments to defund their respective state and local police departments, respectively.
Federalizing all police departments is terrible from both the local protective services of the citizens of each state. Federalizing policing of states and local communities is a historically documented successful path to convert a representative government into a totalitarian police state.
Reference Nazi Germany and their melding of local police forced into the national police force (e.g., the SS).
It's hilariously hypocritical that Democrats all howl about how every Republican presidental candidate is the next Hitler ... but yet the Democrats push repeatedly for a National Police Force (which is the Nazi blueprint).
But the many 'regular' Americans and the majority of Democrat partisans are ignorant of the grim history of National Police forces.

No change. Always been funding the police, unless you were gullible enough to believe what Fox News was spinning.

it about them being hypocrites and changing their narrative with the wind
Not too long ago Waters and Thalib wanted to abolish the police all together.

When you say "them" you seem to be simplfying...

this into stark "this or that" or "us and them".
I don't think Biden has ever been behind the "defund the police" movement, has he? In fact, hasn't he said, specifically, that he doesn't support defunding of police?

I didn't hear what Waters and Thalib said, so you'll have to slow it down even more.
However, if they used to say "defund the police" and have seen the error of their ways, that seems like a good thing. People can change their minds without being hypocrites.
