instead of just breaking the tackle, getting off of him, outrunning 3 or 4 other guys, and dragging a guy horse collaring him into the end zone.

Some people are never satisfied

If you encourage them, they might start complaining again. Right after the win, some poster was saying Dabo needed his head examined. And, now there are 'Tajh was off' posts. I guess we can't just enjoy the big win.

The person who said that Dabo needed his head examined is the biggest attention seeking troll on T-Net! Ignore him or you'll need blood pressure meds before the season is over! As far as enjoying a big win....some people are just not capable! I'm loving it! No worries here my friend! Go Tigers!

I think one thing the "Batson haters" may not realize is...

It's the head coaches call to not use PEDs, like the majority of the SEC and a growing number of college teams are doing.
UGA was obviously a lot bigger than us. There are a ton of teams in the SEC who look similar, and Alabama for instance is just freaky. It's not that they're lifting differently or lifting more often - it's that they're using HGH to get artificially bigger and stronger. It's trickling down from the NFL and becoming a major issue.
in spite of that, we beat UGA because we had better schemes, coaching, and more heart.
But if any teams like NCST, GT, FSU, or uSC, beat us and outphysical us as they each have at times, then you can be sure the S&C program will be put on the spot again.

They cower to big money more than they do their job of keeping equality at the forefront of sports. I just wonder if sooner or later their hand will be forced.

There are VERY few Batson haters
Sep 2, 2013, 4:02 PM
|
|
While I don't think he is at the top of his field and I have been marginally critical of his program, it is quite a stretch to suggest people who question his strength approach as "haters".
There is plenty of ammunition on both sides of the aisle regarding our S&C program. My preference would be to have a truly independent firm analyze the S&C program with a knowledgeable and unbiased set of metrics. We are spending stupid amounts of money on the program now and believe spending $100K or whatever it would cost is money well spent.
You may also be giving Batson the benefit of doubt on the conditioning aspect. There have been more than a few comments that The Chad has had "issues" with the S&C program. I do think his pace has improved everyone's conditioning - perhaps you disagree but I think the evidence is self-incriminating.
I am sure Batson is a fine guy, works hard, etc. However, I want the best guy in this position because he is working YEAR round with the players. I have heard some very positive things about the new S&C assistant so hopefully that is a positive sign.
I care about the players, program and university - want us to be the very best we can possibly be in every facet. That is why one can be thrilled with our recent success and yet still keep an open/critical mindset about where we can improve.
I think an independent review would be a great benefit to the Clemson Nation.

I'm sure Dabo has more experience than these casual fans about what constitutes a good S&C program.

third party review(s) which is fine; they do have their place in the world.
not sure this particular instance would be one of those though. what the staff has done is bring in more eyes & nutritionists. more eyes, more accountability; nutrition provides the building blocks.
good, logical steps. it's what money means to a program.

out if we are on par with other top-10 teams as far as s&c. man , you would just throw away money. the "think tank" approach is bs, evidence and proof is the only thing that will prove if we are nc contenders or not, in the s&c program.

Since I must be one of those fans "without a clue," please explain to me what a knowledgable metric is? While you're at it, please identify your source that "the chad" has issues. Stating there have been more than a few comments doesn't count. Heck, I hear stupid comments at my tailgate, too.

My point was/is there is NO such thing as a "knowledgable metric". What does that mean? An evaluation tool with knowledge? The man posted something that includes things like, "I heard". That's called hearsay. Wo cares what he heard. And if in fact he has sources in the athletic department, they need to be outed. As the saying goes, loose lips sink ships. So either everyone in the athletic department needs to get on board, or get off the ship. That is my point. I don't know if Bateson is doing as good as someone else could, but lets face it, anyone that has that knowledge shouldn't be posting on tnet too begin with.

There's no such thing as Batson haters.

There are football fans and coach worshippers.
Coach worshippers believe everything a particular coach or set of coaches says, worship the ground they walk on, never ever blame them for anything they do wrong, and find any excuse possible or any scapegoat possible to make their favorite guy look good. "Batson haters" are just coach worshippers and Batson isn't lucky enough to be one of their favored coaches.
Then there's football fans, who just want to win.

I wouldn't say I'm hating anyone, but I'm still not completely sold on Batson. I definitely think the Tigers were better coached than Georgia, on both sides of the ball, and you know I don't admit that too much. I did see the physicality of the LSU win carry over to last Saturday, and that was also impressive. I'm not sure exactly how Venables' 8 or 9 in-the-box defense will play against a mobile QB, or an offense that can throw quick slants and outs in that man coverage (FSU?), but it has most certainly worked very well for the past two games. The Tigers are exactly where they want and need to be, thanks to that big time win.

I'd say the defense might have been tired, giving up what? 550+ yards. It's less conditioning, and more heat and humidity at this time of year. In October-November, then you suspect conditioning.

bottom line is it took at least 12 years of "Batson" new GAs and added S&C coaches to get to this point. Find yourself some new squawking points and continue but it has taken many years and many millions of dollars to overcome Batson inequities .
