My short list would include:
Nov 4, 2019, 10:23 AM
|
|
Clawson Mark Stoops Matt Rhule PJ Fleck Jeff Scott (They would never hire him, but I think he'd be a good fit) Scott Satterfield (doubt he would leave UL)

Doubtful...but here's a name to consider:

Gus Malzahn.
Auburn has the same Second Fiddle Complex that UofSC does. You can never do enough to make those people happy short of winning the natty every year, and history suggests that can never be the case.

Family ties to the school, they probably need somebody cheap, and it might screw Clemson as well.

among the HS coaches and such.
I think he'll be a good head coach. I do not think FSU would hire him after Taggart. They'll be under pressure for a more proven commodity.

IF there is a problem with Jeff Scott, it's the fact that he

has not been a head coach. I don't think FSU is looking in that direction simply because they believe they're attractive enough to bring in someone who can hit the ground running with prior experience instead of learning to be a head coach at a power 5 school with an illustrious history. The MEDIA is throwing out names, and top flight assistant names will help fill out lists for the purpose of an article, but I truly think they'll go as big as they can afford.
I'm not saying Scott wouldn't be good from day 1, but more the fact that FSU admins and fanbase believe they can pick and choose from proven top coaches. I don't think THEY think they're looking for a program builder either, but a guy who's already doing it at the highest level. Just speculation, but I feel like they've got to hit a homerun (at least on paper) because the fanbase there is already fractured.

blinded by their history to see it? I still think as big a mess as they have internally, they'll look to snare a big splashy name regardless of fit. I just saw an article saying that Lane Kiffin is campaigning for the job, LOL. THAT, I might actually like to see.
