win on the road in a hostile stadium. So, we all know it is a tough task for our Tigers on the 30th.
Besides turnovers (which will just destroy you) what else must Clemson do to walk into Sanford Stadium and pick up a tough, big-time win over a ranked opponent?
Those who think this will be a cakewalk (I say respectably) need not reply.
GO TIGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's not impossible, but winning a true road game against those teams would be much harder.

Do you honestly think homefield advantage matters that much?

They don't get 3 extra guys if their playing at home, it's the same coaches the same players and the same gameplan regardless. It's nice to have the crowd behind you but let's not kid ourselves here, kids in the larger highschools and some in the smaller are being taught to play in hostile environments, any balanced football team can go into a hostile environment and win the game if they have the right mindset and play composed, as a matter of fact some players and teams play better on the road. Anyone would prefer homefield advantage but the game doesn't hinge solely on that like people seem to think. I hope espn and all of you coots start saying georgia will win by 3 touchdowns, there's nothing like hopping someone's #### in front of their home crowd after no one gives you a chance.

after the first week. They won't come back until right before we go to the home of the Semiholes and right before we put them in their place but as long as we look good and they realize what's coming in November they'll be under their rocks waiting on their moment hat will never come.

having a never quit mentality in the aftermath of going down a score or two with a hostile crowd roaring in your ears.
I have seen home crowds in big-time stadiums take over and determine the game.

but as composed as I think we are especially on the defensive side of the ball I don't see us having too awful of a problem with any crowd and I would be more worried about the doak crowd than this crowd. There's a ton of clemson faithful making it up to Athens for this game so it won't be too awful when they see orange scattered throughout and a big blob of orange in the visitor section. Ill be surrounded by georgia fans unfortunately so I'll probably be the little orange speck in a sea of red.

crowd in DV seemed small for them last year. Who knows--perhaps there will be 8,000-10,000 Clemson fans cheering on the Tigers in their 90,000 seat stadium.

Our allotment of 7,000 was sold out, but I think a ton of CLemson folks grabbed online tickets too.
I'm hoping to have that place 13-15% Orange people.

Stop the run like we did against SC.

At this point i think the offense is going to be what it's going to be, so to really give ourselves a great chance i think we need to control Gurley and make Mason throw to beat us.

SC out rushed Clemson last year. Shaw had just under 100 yards. Clemson did a good job stopping Davis- they sold out to stop him and were successful.
It is sort of a strange game to point to as an example of what they need to do though, given we out rushed them and won the game and all...

140 yds on 50 carries--- you had 13 rushing yds
Aug 22, 2014, 5:19 PM
|
|
on almost 2Xs as many carries-- The CU D-line dominated the line of scrimmage--- The O and ST blunders(some forced, some unforced) and penalties were the difference in that game--
we hardly sold out to stop the run when you only had 178 passing yds as well
You won the game, congrats, but to say you outrushed us is very misleading. GT outrushes about everyone they play-- doesn't do a whole lot for them.

to run the ball. You had 2.8 ypc which was 2 less than your season average of 4.8 ypc. You beat us primarily because we turned the ball over 6 times.
Anything else you want to be wrong about or are you ready to go back to your own POS board now?

Well the obvious is just score more points than they do.

But if you're asking how we do that, then I would say D has to play tough up the middle with very solid games from Jarret, Anthony, and Smith. Keep the UGA running game in check forcing Mason to win the game with his arm.
For the O, Cole needs to just take what the D gives him. Trust the system and the calls, make his reads, and take care of the football.
If we do those things, then I think we take it by 10.

I think this game has the making of an old time smash mouth

kind of game. Both defenses are going to be tough and we must limit the running game which I think we will. We will not try to be air-Clemson in this one but you will see a balanced attack. I personally don't see a whole lot of points being put but think we can pull out a 4 point win----31-27

Establish a credible threat in the running game
Aug 22, 2014, 2:22 PM
|
|
Right now Clemson's running game is a huge question mark.
1) Can Stoudt contribute to the run game in an equivalent manner as Boyd did? Boyd averaged 160 carries, 381 yards, and 8+ TDs per year under Morris' system, so one can surmise that the QB threat to run is an integral part of the general gameplan. Will he be able to be the third and short specialist that Boyd was? Will defenses have to key on him in the read option, or can they pretty much ignore him and focus on the RB/WR?
2) Who will step up at RB? The common T-net mantra "We Too Deep!" doesn't apply to the RB group. Someone is going to have to step up and prove themselves worthy of being the main guy, but that has yet to happen. Also, if the answer to the first question is "No", then defenses will be able to key on the RBs to a greater extent than they have over the last three years, making the job even tougher.
IMHO, the answers to these two questions will go a long way toward telling Clemson's story this year.

Georgia will never be a cake walk, but they aren't better

than us like a lot of people seem to think. I don't think we will just go in and steamroll georgia but I think it's going to take a pretty bad game for us to lose. Our defense should keep Hutson mason in check if their Nebraska game is a barometer and with our line I think we have the best shot at stopping gurley. We match up well with Georgia IMO but if we win I guarantee everyone including some here will be talking about how overrated georgia was and they will bring up the Nebraska game and hutson masons year last year. At the end of the day I don't care how many points it's by or what it takes to get those points, just beat the basttards.

Break even or better on turnovers & big special team

plays.
Weather the initial home field advantage - meaning to stay within one score the 1st 20 minutes.
Decent running game and short passing game to move the ball, get 1st downs and establish field position.
Make a few clutch plays on offense to get touchdowns --- remember we need our playmakers to step up.
Turn it into a normal grind it out football game that we have a chance to win in the 4th quarter.
I like our team, talent & coaches versus the Dogs.

UGA out of the game a couple of seasons ago. It think it was 21-0 before the 1st quarter ended. Even though UGA fought back they could not make up the damage done in that quarter.

If Stoudt has any time to throw and can stay relatively calm

AND we don't lose the turnover battle then I think we win by at least ten.
But turnovers scare the **** out of me.
I think our chances are 49.5%

Key factor with Stoudt is how he reacts after a hard hit or under pressure. Tajh was a different player after hard hits and blitzes. Remain calm and focused and Stoudt should perform well.
