to be the physically tougher of the two teams. Last night not so much, but instead mentally tougher.
Maybe I'm way off base...but is this possibly accurate?

Yep. Holding Mike Davis to 22 yards on 15 carries

And having McDowell run for 111 on 14 carries shows that.

No doubt. Not sure if fumbling is mental or not. It may be.***

Back to the mental toughness angle, well coached, and perhaps a little lucky.

The fact that the game was tied during the time the turnover diff was 4-0 says it was all mental. We probably could have won that game by losing the TO batter 2-0. It was all timely and costly.

I think Clemson proved we are getting tougher as a unit
I also wouldn;t put much into the running game against them
They proved they were not going to let CM or Tajh beat them in the passing game
it is called scheming, what is Clemson's biggest threat?
The big play passing attack, how did that work out? Their D coord said we can bend on the run plays and still beat these guys but we will not give up big pass plays
i think that is the formula each year and they succeed every time. Less knowledgeable football fans say keep running the ball and it does look good, however, you can;t go to something you are not, sooner or later you have to play your game what you focus on the most and succeed with that, Clemson can;t do it for some reason against these guys

Of course that's your take coot because you aren't about to admit that we ran on y'all because we imposed our will on your over rated D line. Jesus you are so transparent!

Imposed our will? How many sacks? How many tackles while watching their bald headed QB run us ragged? They used our aggressive D against us and proved they are smarter and tougher.
We schemed to stop Davis. Mission accomplished! A win for us in the Moral victory category. Weeeeee!

Agree very much with this assessment. I felt they were ripe for the taking last night, had we not made mistakes. We have been way more mentally fragile the last 4-5 years than them at QB, HC, you name it. They just seem to keep playing. Spurrier is pretty hard on his teams during the year, with very little cheer-leading, but he does allow himself some cheering when they really do something big. I think the players feed off of this. Quite a contrast to Dabo's approach.

Some bad calls and turnovers. Then they made no mistakes. Hard to beat a team when they're lucky, i.e. Auburn

Unfortunately this is true. We are gret, but need to take the final step to elite. That involves being tough. See auburn against bama
