After the FB game last fall and their students were flipping off my 9yo son (literally inches from his face) and shouting "F you" to us as we walked back to my truck, I hope they never win another game in any sport for the rest of my life....

The WF fans, I've met before, were all pretty respectful. Anything, that comes from any colleges student section, wouldn't surprise me.

They thought they were going to finally beat us with Sam Hartman and Co. However, they were butt hurt from the spanking they got.

I was at a basketball game in LJ years ago when WF fans came in with huge signs that said, "FU (not the abbreviated version), Clemson!" So, they are not the innocent good guys as portrayed. I still wanted them to win the CWS. Not so sure after seeing that.

even worse is it is a baptist school, or it was before they wanted to change that to offer more religious denominations for trustees/students...those religious institutions are as bad as any other, still young kids trying to get to the adult stage... while disgusting, it is part of this new culture of acting like a idiot and being supported/encouraged by social media platforms...yet another downfall of a society

I live 15 minutes from campus. They cut most ties to the Baptist church about 20 years ago. They do have some affiliation and have a beautiful Chapel on campus, Wait Chapel, but they are Not the same university they were prior.

baseball needs to clean up the 'celebrations'

much like football finally did. Passion and excitement is one thing, but the 'over the top' antics the baseball players have done all year (and all teams) for even just hitting a single is just silly. These actions would be better displayed in a zoo, not on a baseball field where sportsmanship should prevail.

yea, I agree it is a bit much... even our Tigers were guilty of acting like stooges when they got hits or did something perfectly normal to the game.
Game winning hit, celebrate.... 3rd inning double with 2 outs, be excited but act like you may have done that before and no theatrics.
Those actions bit this team, Cam had to have said something out of the way to get kicked out...and the team had already been warned. No place for it in the game, but as stated before this is the new norm to get attention.

I don't think Wake or Furman get a dime from the Baptist anymore. Certainly they both started as Baptist colleges. Wake is now just as "woke" as any other institution ..... or at least it was when my daughter was there in early 2000's ...... probably gotten worse.

you, coachmac
When's the last time you were on campus, at a game there, talked to some people at the school ?
It USED to be very structured & rigid and Bob Jones-esque - no doubt - and I'm saying this based on hearsay - having lots of family living in Greenville - but that was 50 years ago.
NOW - with firsthand experience many times over - it's any other indoctrinating liberal "higher learning" institution - like Clemson seems to be turning into.
But tons of nice folks, drinking on campus, probably sex behind the dumpster if so inclined - about the strangest thing they do is you have to live on campus for all 4 years you are there. And I kinda like that because the college experience is about being on campus, in my opinion.
Furman is a small, liberal arts school with a beautiful campus in a great part of the country - and it's no different than any of the other colleges out there these days.

Furman cut its ties with the SC Baptist Convention back in 1986 in response to the Paige Patterson "Take back our Convention!" strategy.
At the time, Anderson College and Baptist College at Charleston were attempting to head down the same road but had fewer financial resources so were unable to do so; once Furman left, the SCBC had millions of nonappropriated education dollars to give away. AC and BCC gladly reswore fealty to the SCBC in order to get large chunks of ex-Furman funding. In the meantime BCC had renamed itself Charleston Southern in order to have broader appeal.
I don't know the specific history of Wake Forest but I suppose it's similar but chronologically precedent to Furman.

I've got bad news for you if you think things like that are limited to Wake's locker room.
Some of you guys have never been in a college athletics locker room and it shows. They are not exactly bastions of peace and civility.

Cameras? No, but this kind of environment was pretty well chronicled in Ball Four which was published in like the 60s/70s. This is not new or abnormal. Behavior like this goes on in every locker room for #### near every sport, Clemson's included I guarantee you. Hell if you don't believe me just recall Ben Boulware's response to oil check-gate in the 2016/17 CFPs.

While I do get your point, these are teenagers (+) that have just won a HUGE game - under stressful conditions - against a good LSU team, in the highest stage and brightest lights for college baseball. They are on cloud 9, letting off steam, and cutting up among some guys they’ve been through it with for all season - and prior seasons/off seasons - together.
Me personally, I give ‘em some slack here. Hail, phones/social media have been absolutely invasive and harsh on these younger generations.
As for bashing ANY fan base, there are a holes in EVERY ONE OF THEM.
At 69, I am ashamed and absolutely embarrassed to think of some of the things I’ve done - especially in my younger years…… I have lain awake many nights asking forgiveness and REALLY DREADING my eventual ‘interview’ at the pearly gates and St. Pete. Oh boy……

College kids do dumb things. I have always liked Wake, but even more so after watching the segment about their coach giving a player one of his kidneys a few years back. Talk about a sacrifice! He never hesitated about doing it. He and his team will always have my respect.

Horrible, stereotypical statement. I am a former baseball player and have a lot of friends that are former players at every level. Sure, there are some ###hole players in baseball, but no more than any other sport. Baseball probably has less due to the fact that it's one of the most humbling sports. You have to expect to fail 2/3 of the time. Every team probably has 2 or 3 ###hole players, except Tennessee. Their whole team and coaching staff are douchebags.
