be embarrassed by the fact that with an entire country's worth of people to choose from, the "best" the two main parties could come up with was Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. I have voted in every election since I turned 18, but the thought of checking either one of those boxes makes me want to toss my cookies.

will shape the Supreme Court and our country for many years to come. I personally don't want more gov't and liberal agenda shoved onto us like NY and Cali. If it takes voting for Trump to stop that then so be it. Other people disagree and that's fine, whatever.

What are the chances that either/or of the nominees cannot get the senate backing to push any justice into the supreme court? Are we voting for the next president with 6 justices? I think Trump could easily bring that result.

I also understand that the baby boomers haven't left this country in the greatest shape... But I know... I know.... It's the millennials fault...
With that said one thing the millennials will do is get rid of the two party system. There is no changes because you have to vote party lines. No one can vote what they believe in. This is the issue with our country. The two party system is the reason people are making an argument for socialism.... Which is unthinkable...
And FYI- I'm not a Bernie supporter. I've voted Gary Johnson last election and plan on voting Johnson again.

You know, that's an interesting point. I'm a baby boomer and I promise you my generation has screwed the pooch big time. We've abdicated our democracy to money and corporate power.
Wages have stagnated for 30 years. Elections are now more about advertising, branding and ad money than it is the quality of a candidates character and vision.
I only hope that the next generation handles things better than we have.

I know a lot of people under 30 and yes they know about the Supreme Court implications and that's why they don't want a Repub, most of them. Then again, the places I tend to be tend to have more liberals of course. Charleston, NY, California, and Miami.

Why, if that's what some wants to do on their property and be left alone, why is it wrong, and why should someone say no you can't do that.

So you should be able to do anything you like on your property? Is there any limits? Smoke pot? Smile crack? Be addicted to all manor of prescription drugs? Beat women and children? Multiple marriages to underage people? Abuse children? Are you sure you should be able to do whatever you want on your property? Old fashioned I know but a good set of morals makes a much better world.

I guess that you don't understand victimless crime. Also, just because people are different than you doesn't mean they are wrong and vice versa. Johnson is the best option because he has experience as a two term GOP governor. Plus the congress will help keep balance or remain terrible as is the current environment.

What makes you think Donald Trump is a conservative and will nominate conservatives to the Supreme Court? Trump was never been a conservative in his life until he decided to run for president. Trump HAS no core values. He just spouts off anything that he thinks people want to hear. Basically, he just wants to be President of the United States. What he will do if he actually pulls this off is anybody's guess.

Renegade I go the other way. I do not want Trump filling the Supreme Court with the toadies of big corporations to drive all the rest of us into the poor house. I do not want monopolies too big to fail (like power companies, big pharma, banks, and Wall Street) being allowed to dictate their own bailouts, tax breaks, and subsidies. I am sick of capitalism for the poor, socialism for the rich: they keep their profits, and the middle class taxpayer pays for their losses.

I get the logic, I truly do. I just don't think we can afford a clinical narcissist as president for 4 years. The supreme court is important no doubt. But what do we do after he appoints? He'll still be president....and likely a trainwreck for the US.
Republicans should have given Merick Garland a chance, at least he's a right leaning moderate.
Clinton is going to win and likely appoint Anderson Cooper to the bench.

People who want a 3 party system likely have not studied the history

of countries with them. I don't pretend to know all the worlds political history, but typically 3 party systems result in 60-65% of people not satisfied with the winner who only needs 34%to be the majority.
One example is Chile. Real 3 party system for 3 election cycles.. high dissatisfaction.. socialist Allende elected, then us sipported military coup, enter General Pinochet and a 3 decade long tyranous rule.
I'll stick with 2 party and try to make change on local level.

Having a third party candidate doesn't necessarily mean we change our democratic process. The electoral college needs to change, but daily governance and legislation doesn't need to just because we have the option of more choices. Why can't it be like local primaries where several candidates get whititled to two for a final runoff regardless of party affiliations?

If you do away with th electoral college then New York and California decide everything. Is there anything about the status of either state that makes you want to give your future over to them? States rights are important. We are the United States of America, But we are separate states, at least when founded.

Johnson lost me with his "43% budget cut" theory that involves cutting budgets from intelligence, military uniform personnel and civilian, and nuclear spending. He will make our country vulnerable with cutting so much from defense spending...plain and simple. What happened to the good ole days when Americans had attitude and ambition. This society of politics correctness and over pussyism is beyond grotesque.

The federal government is too powerful and irrational fear is one of the reasons why.

the biggest military budget in the world and almost twice as big as China's (which is 2nd).
Cutting out boondogles like the F-35 Lightning II and closing unneeded bases (according to a 2013 Pentagon report, 1 out of every 5 us military installations is unneeded) wouldn't make us weaker, it would make us more efficient and less bloated and wasteful.

I'm sorry I won't sell my soul and vote party lines. There are no differences between Hillary and trump. Trump is a moderate democrat that's pretending to be a republican. What has he said to make you think other wise??? The wall comment?? FYI Obama has deported more Mexicans than any other president.
Hillary is a moderate democrat pretending to be more liberal to get the Bernie votes.
and News flash, Reagan would be considered a Moderate Republican by "today's" standards...

doesn't believe the government should have any hand in job creation or the market at all. He is a self-made entrepreneur and current CEO of a marijuana company. This guy doesn't give one rat's a$$ about social policy, and doesn't want the government's hand in the free market. I am a huge fan.

The driving of the Corvair days I think were better days than what we're now in. And what we are looking at for a future, it don't look to be any better than now. Today's society just seems to be on speed destruction of the world we now live in.

This is the result of 2 party systems.
Aug 24, 2016, 1:34 PM

The only thing that gets me made is the a vote for Johnson is a vote for Hillary, or a bit for stein is a vote for trump... No... A vote for a third party is a vote for change.
End the 2 party systems. People could care less about trump or Hillary. All they see is republican or democrat.

I am embarrassed by your post! The entire nation voted for these 2 yet you are so smart that you deem them both garbage. That is very arrogant. I would not vote for Hillary Clinton under any circumstance but the democrats nominated her. I will proudly vote for Trump because of his stance on Immigration, terrorism and trade. Trump 2016!

not too surprising about her. And if the Republicans weren't in such a mess a guy like Donald Trump never would have made it past the first Republican debate.
We used to have statesmen - no more. Now we don't have any real leaders - just people looking out only for themselves.

I was going to vote for Hillary. It would be my second time voting for a Democrat at the top of the ticket with Obama on his second term being my first. Had voted Republican from George HW Bush through McCain and Miss "I can see Alaska from my back yard here in Wasila". Romney on his own merits I would have voted for - but the influemce of the neo-cons/tea partiers/etc was too much for me. I don't regret voting for Obama.
The GOP is even more screwed up than four years ago.
I'm strongly considering getting behind Johnson (or in front of big Johnson as that might be more interesting). Heck, I may say to heck with it and vote Green. It might take a generation but if third party candidates can collectively start marshalling more and more support each election then fewer folks will think they are throwing away their votes.

since several of you suggested him as a viable option. I went to his official website, and first thing I noticed is his hair is almost as bad as Trump. Whatever happened to good barbers in this country? Trivial in the grand scheme of things, I know, but I would think if you are trying to make inroads as a 3rd party candidate, you would want to look as "Presidential" as possible. If some of you are real supporters of him, may want to pass along this tip.
