Gus Malzone reminded me of Chad Morris

Using his offensive play calling to defeat a more talented team that is not as well coached. It was obvious that Florida was twice as talented as UCF.

Mahlzahn taught Chad Morris the foundation of everything he knows about offensive football and managing a team. Even more than Dabo, Gus is Chad Morris' mentor. So that is an interesting comparison.

Really good observation, I was thinking the same thing. The UCF QB looked like a little boy out there.
...makes me miss the days of some of our creative playcalling.

Yeah those fun creative sometimes gimmicky plays is what energized our fan base and created the monster program we still are now. Hopefully we can continue the dynasty and reclaim our place at the top next year.

Yeah, I realize that we don't normally need gimmicky plays

as much but you're right...really fun to see.
This year we needed to be more imaginative and weren't. I think this is what frustrated me most about TE.
Anyway, maybe Street will get us back!

When the Q.B. play is as bad as D.J. was this year; no play calling is going to help that.

UCF won that game with the scheme and playing calling of Gus. He gave it a try operate straight up but saw that was going to lose the game. He transition into his eye candy offense. Chad won a lot of games for us doing the same thing. We have lost that eye candy offense and maybe we are more talented and don’t need it as much. I do hope Streeter will bring back some of it as it excited both the team and fans. I do believe Tony should have used more of this offense this year due to our handicapped offense.

I don't know if Chad had a track record of beating better talent.

Ucf definitely out coached and out performed Florida. But I wouldn’t sing too much praise for malzahn this year. That’s a team that went from averaging 40+ the past 4 years to about 32 this year. It might just be that the Florida team that played Alabama close is just really really bad
