seriously though, this issue has come up in advice we've given to educational clients. It is a very complex issue. I come down on the side against cameras but you can make a compelling case for them.

going on in the classroom but at some point professional teachers need to feel comfortable leading their class. It is hard enough maintaining control of 30 young people, but even worse if you think there might be 60 parents reviewing your every move. Heck, Middle and High School kids would probably use it to try to trip up the teacher.
I think parents have the right to a course syllabus. After that, make sure you're talking to your kids about what the teacher is saying in class. The overwhelming majority of teachers are good people trying to do good work.

But how accurate are student accounts to their parents?

That's very tricky. My parents would question me in a general way, but unsure of how accurately I'd respond, or with anything meaningful at all.

teachers and other parents in the classroom it's easy to get multiple perspectives.
I've had parents reach out to me with issues concerning my children, and also given other parents and teachers a heads up about things I'm hearing at home. It ain't hard, you've just got to keep in touch with people around you and all the millions of forms of communcation we have these days makes that easier.

Yes…and I may get a lot of backlash on this one…but I think parents may be too involved in their kids lives these days. I don’t mean they shouldn’t be involved and the level of involvement should be commensurate with age…but I know tons of parents who are just basically living their kids lives for them…making every decision, taking away every obstacle, fighting their fights, etc. It’s not healthy, and cameras just help reinforce that behavior IMO.

Lawnmower parents

They mow down any obstacle in their kid's path.
Typically these are the kids who can't cope once they are on their own and end up back at mom's house until they are 35.
Or they go buck ### wild and on their own and end up ODing in the Piggly Wiggly parking lot on weekends.
My parents were helicopter parents and that was bad enough. I tell people all the time my wife raised me. There was so much stuff I was sheltered from growing up I had to learn on the fly as an adult.
I don't want that for my kids. I want to protect them but not shelter them.

I'm gonna take the conservative stance and say taxpayers don't need to take on this extra cost as it will likely cost several millions of dollars.
Let's see how "conservative" you are here. Looks like you may have to agree with me.

Same especially for special needs classes. I sometimes watch my youngest son. He has good teachers but sometimes he misbehaves. So, he can't play the "she lying on me" and she can't make it seem worse than it really was.

so we should make public the activities of our foreign intelligence operatives, and undercover police? That makes total sense, that and the sign language guy, better keep a close eye on him, he could be totally just making ANTIFA talking points and nobody would know.

no problems here, I think not only would teachers perform better, but students would as well if they knew their parents could just watch in on them. It will create amess when parents take issue with the curriculum, so that can of worms will be opened.

I wouldn't want a camera on me the entire day as I was doing my job.
I'm an involved parent, I know when my kids have a crappy teacher or a good one. My children's teachers know I support them 100 percent, just as I do them. I don't need to supervise their teaching, just as I don't need to be supervised like a child doing mine all day.

I think by now we should all agree Matt Gaetz should absolutely be under constant video surveillance. The only thing he hasn't done - that we know about - is feed a witness to a gator.
The rest...I dunno. Who the heck would agree to work under those conditions, if you're going to get Big Brother'd all the time? Especially when nobody in a gubmit bureaucracy ever has your back, and there's 50 gazillion crazy parents out there who all want little Johnny to be perfect but are batsh!t crazy themselves and blame you when he can't walk on water?
That might create some practical issues. Especially for retention of teachers. I can definitely promise you it'd lead to massive and constant interference from parents.

we expect our police to do it. What do they have to hide, it is our tax dollars, right?
the problem is where do we come up with the 20 billion to buy cameras and people to monitor them FOR ALL GOVERNMENT WORKERS as Keowee is suggesting.

So...

What's going to be the taxpayer price tag to install a camera in every public school classroom, give it a live feed to all parents, and record every class and store the data?
Help me with it, for all you folks who claim to be "fiscal conservatives"?
