All-Time favorite bars:

One rule: you had to have gone in this bar at least 10 times. Factors to consider: Number of drunk, cute chicks Quality of music Lighting (I prefer dark and smoky bars when you could actually smoke in bars) Quality of service Late hours
1. Group Therapy - Columbia, SC 5 points Packed with drunk, cute chicks Awesome music - The Animals, Stones, the Doors, the Who, the Taking Heads, Elvis Costello... Dark, smoky, loud and crowded. This was appealing because no bar in Clemson played good music in the late 70s, early 80s. Nick's occasionally did but the sound system was so bad, it was drowned out by the crowd noise. Open until 4AM Great bartenders Line to get in usually - Night before 1989 CU-USC game, a bunch of dudes rushed the door and had a knock down drag out with the bouncers.
2. The Highlander British pub in North Augusta, SC, near the Savannah River Bridge Usually, drunk and cute chicks on Friday after 2AM. It's where I met my wife. Dark, smoky, loud and crowded. Open until 6AM on Friday nights, but closed at midnight on Saturdays Good juke box, but usually had someone playing acoustic on Fridays after 2AM. Great service Line to get in after 2:30AM on Fridays. Bars closed at 2AM in Augusta and people would rush across the river to the Highlander.
3. The Saloon - North Beach in San Francisco One of the greatest blues bars in history. Checks all the boxes from the two bars above, except not many cute girls. Most of the girls in the Saloon were old rock and roll groupies from the 60s or 70s.

4. The Windjammer - Isle of Palms SC
5. Captain Harry's Blue Marlin - Charleston SC

at TD's or Backstreets in the college days. I can still get irresponsibly drunk for less than $20, before tip. Only place cheaper would be at home and people really should not get that drunk at home.

however, I'm not sure I can remember more than 4-5. Possibly the highest concentration of plastered people you'll ever find.
TTT has got to be in my top 5 due to the memories and cheap beer alone.
Back in the day, Buckhead Saloon was one of my favorite places...especially for hot drunk chics.

I don't wanna put the thought in for ranking 1-5, so not in any particular order:
Group Therapy, Columbia SC - just the greatest, nastiest bar ever
Tiger Town Tavern, Clemson SC - everybody on here knows TTT, no explanation needed
Windjammer, Isle of Palms, SC - saw some great bands here
Rockafellas, Columbia, SC - saw many even better bands here.
Exit/In, Nashville, TN - saw a ton of even better bands here.
Trivia: one the back cover of The Police's "Zenyatta Mondatta", Sting wears an "Exit/In" logo t-shirt (bottom right pic)

1. Edgars - disproves your assertion that there was no good live music in Clemson
2. Edgars - 64 oz of draft (Loenbrau not the cheep stuff) for $1
3. Nu Way Lunge 373 East Kennedy Street, Spartanburg, SC before the Brunson's sold it
4. TTT
5. Clancey's better sound system than the Nu Way & more Converse chicks
6. Four Paws

I might have been 10 times in the last couple of months. I'm not sure that the lifetime number would shock me much, to be honest. We'll most likely be there again this coming Sunday for some cajun and zydeco from Mucho Gumbo.
Old video from back when the name of the band was Carolina Gator Gumbo... https://youtu.be/yYQOc20Qafg?si=h3bn-Ux1TYFL9hrT

In no particular order:
The Tiger Den (which would be underneath what is now an Ace Hardware on 123)
Whirl's which was on 93 probably somewhere around what looks like a Burger King. Always enjoyed the sing-a-long at Whirl's
The Bookstore - mainly due to it's proximity to campus
TTT will always have a special place in every Tiger's heart.
The only one I frequent that matches those for decor and clientele is O'Donnell's Pub in Southern Pines.
I would always give a nod to the Esso Club. Prior to it becoming a tourist attraction.

Bumstead's in downtown Myrtle Beach. During the day, the restaurant next door (Dagwood's) was a great sandwich shop. Every Friday, we'd leave work back when I was a single/married with no kids guy, and head to Bumstead's for a few hours. Good times.

Before I got transferred to TN, we looked hard at buying an historic place in Concord. It was the place in the pic below and it was insane how cheap it was for what it was. That whole historic district was gorgeous. In the end I just couldn't warm up to the town.....once you left that district, the rest was just really dirty and sketchy.

I got my free Calloway irons and never even had to go look at the lots because they called and said it was too muddy to get in and out and just asked that I schedule a viewing later, LOL. Ended up selling the clubs to a buddy of mine because I had just bought a fitted set.

If you'd told me 20 years ago I'd a) be an infrequent drinker b) prefer staying in to going out I'd say you're crazy.
The only bar I've ever loved is TTT.
I don't even really like going to restaurants anymore. I'm old.

Dougal McGuire's - Greenville - old Rugby hangout.
Blue Chicago - Chicago - great blues music.
Magnolia's Street Pub Spartanburg - great bands and the second floor bounced (although I don't think it was supposed to)
Connolly's on Fifth - Charlotte- great little Irish pub in the heart of the city.
Backstreets - Clemson - my college bar.
Tiger Town Tavern - Clemson - bar I'd pick up something sweet on my way home from Backstreets
Smokey Joe's Cafe - Charlotte - cool looking bar near the house that has a wood stove as the only source of winter heat.
The Jazz Room - My house - the DJ is fantastic and a hot Nordic looking woman frequents the joint.

Ri-Ra gets all the heat but Connolly's is so much better.
Used to be an old hippie guy that played there and I'd give him $20 and he'd play at least 5 Gordon Lightfoot songs for me, including Edmund Fitzgerald in its entirety.
