Real-time Tennessee Volunteers Baseball Schedule on SECSports.com.
Here’s their schedule. And obviously the biggest flaw with them if their road play. But..They did sweep Vanderbilt at home. They have a couple good series wins. And have some 1/3 series against top-5 RPI teams like Florida.
It seems very similar to Vanderbilt being in our regional for a couple times in recent years and them beating us, and they have good pitching for sure. But their staff isn’t on the level of those Vanderbilt teams. Besides, this lineup could hit any college pitcher you put in front of them.
The obvious is this team should just continue to be aggressive and apply pressure. If we get any momentum at all early or at any point really, things will fall apart for Tennessee. Even if we are down by a few runs, if we somehow string something together, we will explode for 5+ runs in an inning.
Knowing that, I expect Bakich to become even more aggressive with tactics. Like bunting and stealing. Knowing that he has faith in our ability to find a string of hits at any time.
They are 4th in team ERA in the country, as well as 6th in home runs though.
We’ve got to stop thinking we can hit anybody. Did you not see West for Boston College shut us down again? He threw a 2 hitter last month against us and last Friday after we tattooed the starter they brought in West and he minimized us again. I don’t want to see a big righty with a devastating slider that our righties will chase. We are on fire but pump the brakes on thinking we can just roll out there and hit anybody
