While at Clemson:
In 2020 Sports Illustrated included Ed McDaniel in its list of the greatest Clemson LBs of all time. OF note, making this list is an incredible honor since Clemson has had some GREAT LBs:
6. Ed McDaniel (1988-1991)
McDaniel was teammates with former Tiger great Levon Kirkland. McDaniel notched 389 career stops including 30 tackles for loss, 10 forced fumbles, 14 pass breakups, and one interception during his college career. McDaniel led the Tigers in tackles in 1988, 1989, and 1991 — earning first-team All-American honors his senior season.

After Clemson:
The Minnesota Vikings selected Ed McDaniel with the 125th overall pick (5th Round) in the 1992 NFL Draft. They got an absolute steal for a 5th Round pick! According to Pro-Football-Reference, Ed McDaniel played for the Minnesota Vikings from 1992-2001:
Ed McDaniel (1992-2001):
- 125 Games
- 796 Tackles (575 Solo, 191 Assisted)
- 19.5 Sacks
- 4 Interceptions Returned for 21 Yards
- 15 Forced Fumbles
- 5 Fumble Recoveries
Of note: He did miss the 1996 season due to a knee injury.
