James Dickey

Feb 24, 2021, 2:18 PM

This is a continuation of this archived post (it's a short thread):

https://www.tigernet.com/forum/thread/Clemsons-Tailback-in-1942-James-Dickey--Really-1892148

Some people may have known that James Dickey played for Clemson in 1942, but I suspect very few people know this, and it's amusing:

* After high school, James Dickey spent a year at the Darlington School in Rome, Georgia.

* Will Muschamp graduated from the Darlington School in 1990 - his father was the headmaster!

* In 1981 - 40 years later - Dickey wrote to the principal of Darlington School, asking that he be completely expunged from the school records. In the letter, he wrote (this is a direct quote):

"a more disgusting combination of cant, hypocrisy, cruelty, class privilege and inanity I have never since encountered at any human institution."
