Pretty simple to see - since 2008, Clemson athletic department revenue has skyrocketed from $59M to $158M in 2022. A growth of 167%. I'm going to state that I believe the majority of this revenue growth is due to the Clemson football program's rise under Coach Swinney. I know other factors are at play, but football is the primary driver.
Meanwhile, the average FBS program grew from $39M to $81M (109%) and the average ACC program grew from $62M to $134M (117%).
If Clemson had followed the national growth rate, our revenues today would be around $124M ($34M less than it's making now). If Clemson had followed the ACC growth rate - which is skewed by Clemson's numbers but I'll keep it simple - we would have brought in $128M ($30M less) in 2022. So let's see, is $11M salary for $30M increase in revenue a good investment? Seems pretty good to me.
That, and two National Championships, are the primary reasons behind Dabo's salary. It doesn't really have anything to do with what this team does this year. Like most jobs, it's based on past performance.
Anybody who thinks Dabo hasn't earned his salary is mistaken, IMO.
Yessir. Not to mention the increased visibility Clemson has received which

has increased applicants - which increases student quality. I'm sure there's a few extra millions in the City of Clemson's coffers due to Dabo's success as well.
