150 Years Of College Football - My Fondest Memories

Sep 16, 2019, 11:01 AM

Wow!!!

All week I've been hearing about what mainstream media believes are the greatest moments during the 150 years of college football.

What I remember is Bob "The Bullet" Hayes at Florida A&M University.

Who was Bob?

He did something that has never been repeated.

The Bullet played half-back, setback, running back for 4 years at FAMU.

The Dallas Cowboys had you thinking they found an Olympic Gold Medal winner in the 100 & 200 meters and turned him into a football player.

The Bullet went from the football field to the Olympic stadium and set all those Olympic records.

Trust me, he was a football player first, track was a hobby.

Born & raised in Columbia I got to see Hayes play 4 times.

Columbia had Benedict College & Allen University. FAMU would come every year to play one of them.

Bob is in the Pro Football HOF. He is the only man with a Super Bowl ring & several Olympic Gold Medals.

Another thing I remember is the FAMU band & the "Death March".

The drum section led the team onto the field with a slow drum beat known as the "Death March".

What did it sound like you say?

Well go to 1:49:29 of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 when Jennifer Lawrence enters the stadium.

God Bless The Bullet & may he RIP.

Remember him well. What was his 100 yd time? wasn't it 9.1 or 9.0, and was it ever beaten?

Nice of you to come on this board and praise other players and teams but only put downs for our coaches and team.
