said earlier this week that one practice will see Stoudt surge ahead, only to see Kelly catch back up in the next practice. Stoudt knows the system and is quickly maturing, while Kelly has all of the physical tools to be a good one.

to move somewhere else, possibly to left guard. Morris said this week that Battle – despite his impressive performance in the bowl game – is a “long way away” from being the starter. In the same boat are left guards David BeasleyDavid Beasley

can do, but Brooks has added weight this spring and the spring game could be his time to shine and leave the coaches with positive film to look at over the summer. Don’t be surprised to see him line up in the slot and in the backfield.

* Sammy WatkinsSammy Watkins
Jr. Wide Receiver
#2 6-1, 205
Fort Myers, FL

View Full Profile
– Watkins has a new position, the boundary receiver played by Nuk Hopkins over the past three seasons. He should see more 1-on-1 matchups, and has said this spring he has re-dedicated himself to his career. He might not get a lot of snaps Saturday, but it could be a preview of the fall.

* Germone HopperGermone Hopper

– The Tigers were able to redshirt Hopper last season, and he slips into the “2” wide receiver slot with Adam HumphriesAdam Humphries

? Saturday will be the first time we’ve seen them in action since the bowl game, and it will be the last time they get a chance to show their stuff to the coaches before the cavalry arrives in the form of freshman help in the summer. It’s make or break time for a few of them.

are Clemson’s new starters at safety, and both appear to be blossoming under Reed. Can the coverage busts and the serious lack of tackling technique that have plagued the back end of the secondary over the past few seasons finally be fixed?

* Bradley PinionBradley Pinion

#92 6-6, 230

View Full Profile
– The punting and kickoff jobs appear to belong to the strong sophomore. However, short kickoffs hurt the Tigers last season, and Pinion needs to show he can consistently put the ball in the end zone.

*Numbers – Chad Morris’ offense now runs off numbers, something he says will help him get the plays in quicker. It will be interesting to see if the officials can keep up with the tempo.

*Defensive tackles – This group is solid, and the fun will be in watching which player steps up and shows out among Grady JarrettGrady Jarrett
