Injuries shuffled the rotation again at Syracuse on Friday.
The Tigers secondary had to cover for Andrew Booth Jr (hamstring) with Sheridan Jones and freshman Nate Wiggins, while going to more of a 5-DB and 3-man front with Tyler Venables as the third safety (coming up big with an INT in the game). On the O-line, Mason Trotter made a surprise start at center for his season debut and went all 77 snaps coming off injury (hand) after Hunter Rayburn was a late scratch for COVID protocol. Also on the front-five, Will Putnam and Matt Bockhorst moved back to their 2020 starting guard spots and Marcus Tate and Mitchell Mayes serves as some depth in rotation. At defensive end, Kevin Swint got a chance to play with eight snaps as Justin Foster was on special teams-only this game.
