Former Clemson TE signs $29.4M deal with Colts

by - Assoc. Editor -

Former Clemson tight end Dwayne Allen has confirmed to ESPN that he has re-signed with the Colts for four years worth $29.4 million with $16 million guaranteed.

"I knew this was home and with their offer they confirmed that to me," Allen said to ESPN's Josina Anderson.

Allen had 16 receptions for 109 yards and a receiving touchdown in 13 games last season. For his career, he has 91 receptions for 1,045 yards and 13 touchdowns. His best season (and healthiest) as a professional was his rookie season where he had 45 catches for 521 yards and three touchdowns.

The Colts will probably allow talented tight end Colby Fleener to leave via free agency on Wednesday as he will become an unrestricted free agent.

Allen was perceived by Colts' management as a superior blocker to Fleener for protecting franchise quarterback Andrew Luck.
