Former Clemson defensive back and NFL journeyman Crezdon Butler signed with the Detriot Lions on Saturday according to team officials.

Butler impressed the coaching staff with a tryout at the Lions' facilities on Friday.

The team was looking for an additional cornerback after the season-ending concussion injury to defensive back Rashean Mathis.

Butler was released by the Lions in the final round of cuts before the regular season.

He has played in 37 career games with seven different NFL teams including Tampa Bay, San Diego, Pittsburgh, Arizona, Washington, Buffalo and Detroit.
