Dolphins decline option on former Clemson LB |
The Miami Dolphins have decided to decline the fifth-year option ($9.2 million) on linebacker
Stephone Anthony according to multiple reports.
Anthony signed a four-year deal worth $7 million with an option for the 2019 season and will now be a free agent in March if he doesn't sign a new deal with the Dolphins. He will compete alongside rookie Jerome Baker and Chase Allen for a starting linebacker spot. If Anthony grabs a firm hold of the starting job, look for the Dolphins to eventually work out a contract with him before he becomes a free agent. The former Clemson standout was a Saints’ first-round pick in 2015, where he posted 70 solo tackles as a rookie. Last season Anthony was limited due to hamstring and knee injuries and finished with 15 tackles in eight games.
