Chiefs waive former Clemson DT

by - Assoc. Editor -

The Kansas City Chiefs waived defensive tackle Jarvis Jenkins to make room on the 53-man roster for receiver Kelvin Benjamin on Friday.

The move for added receiver depth was necessary after Sammy Watkins re-injured his right foot during Thursday's practice.

In 2018, Jenkins appeared in 12 games (206 snaps) with six tackles and no sacks. Jenkins appeared in 11 games in 2017 (19% of defensive snaps) and registered a sack and 11 tackles.

In 2016, he was waived by the New York Jets as he had only 120 snaps in nine games registering nine tackles and zero sacks. In 2015, he had four sacks.

For his NFL career, he has 137 tackles and seven sacks.
