Clemson 2015 commit LaSamuel Davis was named defensive MVP (South squad) in a 23-18 win at the Touchstone Energy North-South All-star game.
For the game, Davis had 7 tackles, 1.5 sacks and three tackles for loss. Davis in the next man up in a long line of defensive studs to come out of Bamberg, including Ricky Sapp, Da'Quan Bowers and Martin Aiken. As a senior, he had 120 tackles, 16 sacks, three fumble recoveries and an interception. As a junior, he had 112 tackles, 38 tackles for loss and seven sacks. Davis had offers from Arizona State, Clemson, Florida, Kansas State, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Tennessee, UCLA, USC and Wake Forest. One note - During halftime of the All-star game, Dutch Fork running back Matt Colburn (UL commit) was named Mr. Football for the state of South Carolina over Clemson commit Kelly Bryant and several others.
