Hopkins prefers to spend entire career with Texans |
Former Clemson standout Deandre "Nuk" Hopkins is one year away from a huge NFL contract but he told reporters on Monday that he wouldn't mind spending his entire NFL career with the Texans.
"If I can play my whole career here, I would," Hopkins said via the Houston Chronicle. "I love this place. This organization took a chance on drafting me. You have to look at that." Hopkins was drafted by the Texans with the 27th overall selection in the 2013 NFL Draft. "I love this place," said Hopkins. "I love this organization. I love the fans here. I'll never forget after we went 2-14 (2013), I don't recall too many fans bailing out on us. It speaks a lot about this city and who they are." Hopkins had 111 catches for 1,521 yards and 11 touchdowns and was named as a Pro-Bowl starter for the first time in his career (alternate last season). His 2015-2016 season was remarkable in a Texans' historical perspective as he had the third-most catches, fourth-most receiving yards and fourth most receiving touchdowns. He was also the first player in NFL history to have 100-yard receiving games with four different starting quarterback in a single season (Brian Hoyer, Ryan Mallett, T.J. Yates and Brandon Weeden).
