ESPN's FPI predicts Clemson's 2016 season with FSU loss

by - Assoc. Editor -

ESPN's Football Power Index (FPI) is a measure of team strength that is meant to be the best predictor of a team's performance for a season. FPI represents how many points above or below average a team is, and projected results are based on 10,000 simulations of the rest of the season using FPI, results to date, and the remaining schedule.

Clemson is #4 in the FPI ranking with a projected record of 11-1 with a loss to ACC rival Florida State.

However, the Tigers are enormous frontrunners for the Palmetto Bowl game with the Gamecocks at a 90.5% chance of a win.

The Tigers have a 31.2% chance of winning the ACC, 8.3% chance to win out and a strength of schedule of 34 according to the Football Power Index.

Clemson odds against individual 2016 games are Auburn (72.5%), Troy (98.6%), South Carolina State (99.8%), Georgia Tech (87.7%), Louisville (79.2%), Boston College (88.2%), North Carolina State (92.1%), Florida State (36.5%), Syracuse (95.3%), Pittsburgh (87.4%), Wake Forest (91.2%) and South Carolina (90.5%).
