Clemson ranked #1 CFB team in S.C. for 2016

CBSSports.com released its latest article on the best college football team in each state for 2016 and Clemson was the selection for the Palmetto State.

"Maybe it's recency bias, but I get the idea that the South Carolina fans at or around college age when Spurrier led the Gamecocks on a winning streak against Clemson will keep the tale alive forever," CBSSports.com said. "The fact that Clemson's playoff run occurred in the season the Head Ball Coach retired only makes the story better. Clemson's back in charge in the Palmetto State with less practicing green work and more football facility putt-putting."

Clemson is currently up impressively with South Carolina in the head-to-head record with 67 wins, 42 losses, and four ties.

Statistically, the Tigers lead the Gamecocks in all-time winning percentage (.603 vs. .511), national championships (1 vs. 0), conference championships (19 vs. 1), bowl games (38 vs. 20), wins all-time (703 vs. 587), bowl record (.526 vs. .400), consensus All-Americans (25 vs. 4), NFL draft picks (229 vs. 193), first-round NFL draft picks (27 vs. 12), weeks in the AP Poll (387 vs. 186), and weeks on AP Poll at No. 1 ranking (7 vs. 0).
