every once and a while someone trumps football, basketball, etc. and posts something that is all more important than the latter. To get to the point, my friend just left my house and while I do get to see him tomorrow before and after I babysit his three small children so he can eat dinner with his wife, he will be headed to Iraq Friday morning. I think what gave me the idea to post was that I looked at some of my old posts and saw where I wrote about a fried of mine who passed in Iraq back in 2006. While celebrating his life here after the fact, I look forward to supporting and encouraging another here as well. He is a Ranger (hooah) and know he will fare well. Please just pray for him, his family, and and his friends. If any of you know those who have fought, are fighting, or are training to do so, I ask you post their name following this so everyone can recognize their service. Thanks and God Bless.

I would rather put the name of my friends who have passed than my own though.
James Gudridge Chris Nelson Christopher Hake
I pray for their families every day and I would ask you to do the same. They are heroes.

My son, Two purple hearts

Don't apologize for asking us to list the real heroes of our time. My son Michael is in the 82nd Airborne and he has chosen to defend us against terrorism. He and his wife Kendle have two great children Alex and Elinor. Michael a year ago in April was in the the room next door to the nine brave soldiers that lost their lives when two suicide bombers drove their trucks into his outpost in Balad, Iraq. He was on the radio directing the Army helicopters to their targets when the second bomber hit them. He dug through the rubble with his bare hands to find his buddies. He will return to Iraq sometime in the next 3 months for his third tour. And you folks think we have it tough....ask his wife. I thank him everyday for his commitment to our Country and us.

but I will- He's a hero and my hat is off to him and all his fine family. I saw the following on the back of a tractor trailer today: It said:
MY USA
Always supports our troops whenever they go to war.
Then there was a large American flag.
Below the flag were these words:
We will never give aid or comfort to the enemy
No Way!
I had to pull up by the driver, honk the horn, and give a thumbs up.
You have to be a wonderful person because you raised a wonderful son.
God Bless!

Tell your friend to kick ###, take names, and most importantly, come back safely.

Been told it's almost 100% sure he'll be headed to one or the other.
Major Linus Stone (USAF), CPT Christopher Seifert (USA), murdered in a grenade and rifle attack that also wounded 14 in an Army camp in Kuwait on March 23, 2003. Major stone was from the Idaho ANG and assigned to my unit for the Iraq war.
A1C Ray Losano, USAF ROMAD (TACP), KIA in Afghanistan.
SSgt Jacob Frazier, USAF ROMAD (TACP),KIA in Afghanistan.
All my friends who have retired or still in across the world.
All the men and women here at Ft. Jackson.
Myself, USAF 1989-2004.

My neighbor's son Jason came back a couple of months ago from Afghanistan after a year of duty. The day before he was to leave, they were following a local on a supposedly safe route in their HumVee. They hit a land mine. God was watching out for him and his comrades. The mine was a very old one and blew up the engine compartment. The first thing they all did was to reach down and see if their legs were still there. I guess football isn't that important after all. Thanks for the reality check.
