Danny Ford encounter @ Macaroni Grille on Pelham Rd.

Jun 15, 2007, 1:27 PM

Me and a guy I work with (who is a huge Georgia fan) went to Macaroni Grill for lunch. As we're waiting on our table, a guy from behind puts his hand on my co-workers shoulder and says "Son, you shouldn't wear that kind of hat around here." My co-worker, who's had to defend his Georgia hat on numerous occasions turns around thinking there's gonna be trouble, but sure enough, it's Clemson legend himself, Danny Ford.

Me being somewhat dumbfounded and awestruck could only utter the words "There's the man". He looked over at me sporting my Clemson hat and said "Now here's a man that knows a thing or two about college football" as he shook my hand and gave a wink. He started to shake my co-workers hand when the true "Georgia" came out. My co-worker said "I normally wouldn't shake a Clemson man's hand, but I know that hand has shaken the hand of Vince Dooley, so it would be a pleasure". Which got a huge laugh out of Ford.

Needless to say, that was a lunch I'll never forget.
