stand......The WOOHOO!!!
And to find out now it is being taught in Orientation is discouraging in the least.
That stinking phrase almost ruins one of the greatest fight songs in college football!!
There is no place in the game of football or any other sport for the phrase WOOHOO!!
It is not even said after a great play. You may get a WOOOO, or a YEAH, even a flat out yell, but not a woohoo!!
Someone please slap some sense into the woohooers. I mean seriously how tough does it make your team appear with woohoos coming from all around!!

All I remember about orientation is the old look to the left and look to the right...one of you won't be here at the end of the year. (and also someone threw up on my back in The Corporation that night).
Not a woohoo fan though.

Too funny! Had forgotten about The Corporation. A better time - when that was the ONLY place you couldn't walk to get a a beer - when you were a freshman!

This must be stopped immediately. I say if every fan that can't stand the woo hoo would just turn and slap hell out of somebody who does woo hoo then after a while I think they would be a little hesitant to do it. After all you have to force them to form a good habit.

I'm an active anti-woohooer, too...hate it. Even have the "Ban the woo hoo" t-shirt...and I wear it often. Unfortunately, I'm afraid we have a full generation of woo-hooers that will carry the woo hoo into the future. I'll fightem' till my last breath, though.

I really don't understand what's wrong with it. It's just another way for fans to interact and make NOISE. It helps get people excited. Sure it may not be everybody's idea of tradition, but things change and traditions have to start somewhere. I'm a rising senior at Clemson and a lifelong fan and I enjoy the woohoo. There, I said it.

the problem is the woohoo strikes fear in no one. I think it is even a bit laughable a whole bunch of hardcore fans going woohoo!!
Death Valley is supposed to be an imposing structure with a fierce team that other squads fear. I think it is hard to do with woohooing going on everywhere!!
I remember the times before the woohoo and I have been here after, and I honestly have to say that before the woohoo was much better!!!
No other schools that use tiger rag or a version of it woohoo!! Even Auburn with their slogan, chant, whatever else stealing selves didn't take this one!!

it's funny watching fans getting excited over a lame and cheesy song Metallica made when they went commercial. That song sounds like a parody of a heavy metal song. That song is over 20 years old, it was a joke then and it's a joke now.

Change and new traditions is fine provided they fit. This doesn't, and it needs to die a quick, though painless, death.

The stupid Woo-hoo started several years ago somehow and caught on. Whether we like it or not (I don't)most fans do and it is NOT going away. Time to move on. What we do need is a couple of new, jazzy cheers. I like the ones we have but most were used when I was a student a long, long time ago.

ACT NOW! Here's the contact page for Orientation...
Jul 13, 2011, 3:01 PM
|
|
Shoot them an e-mail and get them to stop teaching the "Woo Hoo" to unsuspecting new students.
http://www.clemson.edu/administration/student-affairs/nssp/contactus.html
Here was my letter from a few minutes ago:
Dear Mr. Brown,
It has just come to my attention that the “Woo Hoo” at the end of our beloved fight song Tiger Rag is being taught to incoming freshman during orientation. This is wrong on all sorts of levels.
Tiger Rag plays when we score or put a beatdown on our opponent. “Woo-hooing” adds a feminine element to this, near the end, and cuts into the fight song’s message. It’s something other teams can mock us for and takes away from the momentum that the song is celebrating.
This can’t possibly be approved by the athletics department, and I can assure you that the majority of Tiger fans do not want this. If you need evidence, run a poll or something.
You have the power to help rid football Saturdays of this scourge. If a group of sorority girls want to belt it out, fine, but let’s PLEASE don’t promote this as part of Clemson tradition. It’s not, it hurts us, and it needs to die a quick and painless death.
Keep in mind that we haven’t won jack in football since this cheer has been in existence.
Thank you.

The Registrar should ask the applicant to perform the Woohoo hoo hoo.
If they can EVEN DO IT, their application should be summarily denied and forwarded to Duke.

i do not do it and do not condone it and yes it do sound very stupid but its not going to go away. even the cheerleaders do it. i saw them personally during the parade before the game. the students that are coming in to clemson now think it is part of the fight song.
