For in-conference play, Clemson will finish the regular season with the highest free throw percentage. After years of being maligned for poor FT shooting, this is quite a turnaround. Congrats Tigers!
Here are the standings after yesterday, and the teams playing today have not caught up.
FREE THROW PCT G FTM FTA Pct 1. Clemson 16 215 288 .747 2. Duke 16 238 322 .739 3. Virginia Tech 16 244 332 .735 4. Wake Forest 15 210 287 .732 5. Boston College 15 185 257 .720 6. That is phenomenal, and it's huge. Free throws cost us a lot

of games over the past gazillion years, and it probably cost us a few last year, with virtually the same group of players. Further evidence that coach Brownell's overall philosophy is working.

for as long as I can remember, the Tigers could not sink a free throw and have lost many games because of it.

teams and the last 4 total teams play the play in games. Last last 4 at large play each other and the 2 winners play the highest available team, likely a 4 or 5 seed. The last 4 total play each other and the 2 winners play 1 seeds.

300 free throws that we beat only VT and FSU (1 of 2).Five of our seven conference losses came against teams who get fouled the most. I know some of it comes at the end of games when teams are losing to them - but not all the time in close games , and we had our share of those .

No wonder it is so chilly today.....who would have ever thought this was possible when the season began. Same team players for the last three years....amazing. Coach B and his staff have done an amazing turnaround with this team!! The team playing as they have all season has been a joy to watch. What a ride it has been and can't wait for Friday!!! Go Tigers!

The Tigers % for the last 2 years was about 69%. That's a

difference of hitting about 16 extra free throws for the season. That makes a big difference in winning an extra close game or two.
