My grandfather's 8mm videos of Clemson

From the 1970's. The two games were Maryland and Citadel, so I am guessing it's from 1973.
Old Clemson Video
It's neat to see what the stadium looked like back then. And the tailgating is nothing like what it is now. I'm sure many folks on here will remember these days.

At about 1:45 in the video, did you notice all the white from the Citadel fans in the lower deck? I wish I had all the videos I took in the 80's. Great video, and thanks for the memories.

Here is the cover and some pages from a program from the same year--1973. My first game was in the 1972 season.
Notice that kickoff was at 1:30 for this game.

I remember that game so well. Everybody was saying we better improve a whole lot if we were going to be any good. We still "dressed up". Men wore hats and lots of women did too. Adults had tickets and the kids sat on the bank. Tailgating was a whole lot different. Usually my family got Dukes sandwiches in Greenville. We ordered them on Friday and picked them up on Saturday morning. Thanks for the memories.

That old footage means a lot to me. If that was '73, then I attended my first Clemson game the next year at 14 years old.

Glad to post it. I'm not positive about the year

My grandfather's old 8mm reels were not dated or labeled, but I'm sure all the video was from the 1960's or 1970's. I know the stuff filmed between these two Clemson games was from the 1970's, and both games were close together on the same reel, so they were probably from the same season. 1973 is the only year we played Citadel and MD at home, so that's why I'm pretty sure it's 1973.
That was 3 years before I was born.

In 1973 I was 11 and attended my first game - against Texas A & M. They had a running back named Bubba Bean who ran all over us- I want to say he scored 3 TDs that day...

South upper deck was used for first time in 78 game against S. Car.
North upper deck was used for first time in 83 home opener against W. Car.
