Wow - and many of you say that I am negative...

FINAL FOUR IN BASEBALL!!!

For the past fifteen years, our football program and basketball programs have NOT EVEN BEEN CLOSE to this kind of success - nor do we appear anywhere close to having that kind of success. You are COMPLETELY DELUSIONAL if you see anything negative about a Final Four appearance in any sport.

"But we lost to South Carolina" - WAAAAHHHHHH! The beat us fair and square. Just b/c they are headed to the national title game does not make our season a failure.

Dabo would be given the keys to the city if he even made a BCS game. An Elite Eight appearance by Brownie would be the greatest moment in the history of our basketball program.

Kudos to Leggett and his team for doing something truly phenomenal. If you cannot see that, sorry...

I just asked a question- I don't live in the area

Jun 28, 2010, 1:34 PM

I was curious. So sue me.

Lots of talk on here about meeting the team I wondered if any did and how it went. Some times people can be real you knows. Like you apprently

it is possible...

to be both pleased at the overall arc of the season while simultaneously disappointed at how it ended. Especially so soon after and especially given back to back loses to one's rival.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You are taking the same stance that I get ripped on about

Jun 28, 2010, 1:27 PM

on here all of the time. I get it, but many who call me out as being "anti-Clemson" are acting the same exact way about this baseball season.

what would you feel like if we lost the Sugar Bowl

Jun 28, 2010, 1:28 PM

to the coots?? same difference... while we had a great season by getting to the final four, losing to sob's from columbia makes me want to vomit

2024 purple level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I would feel great b/c we will not being making a BCS game

Jun 28, 2010, 1:44 PM

any time soon... :)

But seriously, losing to SCAR would not be any worse than losing to another team. A football season that ended with a Sugar Bowl loss would be FANTASTIC!!!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

lol, yeap!***

Clemson people do not get excited about moral victories.

Jun 28, 2010, 1:50 PM

Whether we were the best or worst team in that tournament, the goal was to win it, and we did not. The instant we start being happy with second best is the instant we become no better than our friends in Columbia. We made a good run, but we came up short, and I just can't get excited about being the third or forth best team in the tournament.

Re: Clemson people do not get excited about moral victories.

Jun 28, 2010, 1:52 PM

very good post. no one should accept losing but the constant bashing of coaches and calling the players chokers is way over the line imo.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

If it was only 1 loss, you're right, but we're 0-4 versus

Jun 28, 2010, 2:00 PM

the Coots in this situation, and 0-4 when only 1 win was needed to play for the championship!

Clemson baseball. You are making my point for me...

And sad as it is... until Leggett wins a CWS... that could

Jun 28, 2010, 2:40 PM [ in reply to If it was only 1 loss, you're right, but we're 0-4 versus ]

very well be his legacy at Clemson...

He's been/is a great coach but if he never wins a National Title... a lot of people will only remember the Coots knocking us out... 0-4 against them in Omaha.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

exactly. Fair or unfair, Mike Martin's legacy is similar. He

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

True. It'd be even worse though if he's was 0-4 against UF

And if he won a title, he'd be a wiener with a NC . . .

Jun 28, 2010, 3:53 PM

Bottom line - still a wiener.

title would help otherwise.....

Jun 28, 2010, 3:40 PM [ in reply to And sad as it is... until Leggett wins a CWS... that could ]

badge-donor-05yr.jpgringofhonor-74tiger.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

our level of play the last two games was not what it was

disappointing. But, big picture, this team had a

good season in spite of the way it finished.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Clemson football isn't fancy. Clemson football is having a good kicking game, winning with the kicking game, hit you on defense, don't turn the ball over and be able to control the ball.

Agreed. Nice to agree with you for once. ***

Jun 28, 2010, 3:27 PM

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I agree with what you are saying...

Jun 28, 2010, 3:38 PM

however, I think folks were disappointed before it ever got to this point. Even though in the grand scheme of things this was a good season, to me this team did not live up to their true potential. After starting off great, they ended up struggling through most if the year. At one point there was a question whether they would even make the post season or not. But the bats got hot when they needed to and they were able to make a good run. My opinion is if we hadn't had that 24 hour rain delay in the OU game, we would be in the National Title series.

That's twice in a month we've agreed, Express....
