I got to meet the living legend last night.....

I was in Greenville with a group at a downtown restaurant and Danny Ford was there. One of the waiters mentioned to him how big of a fan some of us were and he graciously came into our room and spoke to every single one of us...took pictures and told some jokes to one of our Georgia Bulldog buddies. He's probably had to do that routine a 1000 times, but you certainly couldn't tell it by how pleasant he was.
I know he is just a retired Clemson football coach, but what a heII of a guy he is. Really coulnd't have been nicer to all of us.

he stopped and asked if I needed any help. He was on his way to eat lunch at a restaurant in Central.
He is the genuine article. He didn't have to stop and ask and he didn't know me from adam's housecat.

Danny had truly become larger than life to the upstate of SC.
As the Tnet poster mentioned, watching the coverage of this event was like watching a funeral
Danny will always live on in my mind as the greatest.
I never quite appreciated him while I was a student during his Clemson days, but now that he is gone!!!

Was standing in line at the laundry on Wednesday's waiting to pick up my ROTC unis for drill and he would be there working the line waiting to get his suit for the Sunday football show.
You'd think he'd had somebody do that for him, but I got to talk with him more than once.
